Her Story

About Allie

I've definitely had a more unconventional career path. I started out as a clinical social worker, and while I was involved with social work, I was freelance reporting in my free time. I fell in love with that and was fortunate enough to be granted an opportunity to turn that into a full-time job. From there, I moved from reporting to marketing, and currently I consider myself a freelance marketing consultant. My key area of expertise is building relationships and being able to develop trusting relationships within my professional network. There's not usually a typical day for me — I'm usually juggling several projects at a time. I also just started a Substack where I write about my parenting journey as a new mom. I'm most proud of being able to set my own pathway in the marketing and journalism field and having the courage to move on from a previous position that I had grown out of. I'm considering shifting back to the field of social work, where my values closely align.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

There might be multiple paths out there for you. There are a lot of women like myself that are still figuring it all out, and I've come to terms that that's completely okay. I really want to normalize that.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say with the rise of AI, there are definitely concerns in my field. But, I'm trying to more so learn the technology and use it as more of a productivity tool.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I really value honesty and the ability to be vulnerable both personally and professionally.
