Allison Johnston is the founder and owner of White Lotus Equine Therapy, a mobile equine rehabilitation service dedicated to providing personalized care for horses and their owners across Kentucky. Drawing on her extensive experience in veterinary medicine and her deep passion for equine well-being, Alli has built a business that combines hands-on therapy techniques with client-focused service. Her work emphasizes improving horses’ physical health and performance while fostering strong, trusting relationships with their owners. A graduate of Midway University with a bachelor’s degree in Equine Rehabilitation and Equine Science and Management, Alli was actively involved in campus life, including the Gamma Beta Phi honor society, the Midway Horse Association, and competitive equestrian teams in both hunt seat and western disciplines. Her education laid a strong foundation in equine science, collaborative problem-solving, and business strategy, which she seamlessly integrates into her professional endeavors. Before founding White Lotus Equine Therapy, Alli gained diverse experience in both the equine and broader service industries. She worked as a veterinary technician and inventory specialist at Bluegrass Equine Surgery, as well as in marketing and administrative roles with BIGGBY Coffee and NewVista Behavioral Health. This combination of technical expertise, client relations, and business management has shaped her holistic approach to equine therapy, emphasizing both animal care and operational excellence.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of my professional experiences in the equine industry, my academic achievements, and my entrepreneurial ventures. Over the years, I have worked closely with horses, managed a business, and contributed to various equine organizations, each experience shaping my skills and perspective. I also enjoy sharing the lessons I’ve learned and providing guidance to young professionals who are entering this industry, helping them navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to trust in your experience and take ownership of your path. Having grown up in the business, I gained a strong foundation early on, but what I’m most proud of is taking the leap to start my own business. That experience taught me the value of initiative, resilience, and believing in my ability to create opportunities rather than wait for them.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: don’t give up. There will be long days and challenges, but persistence is key. Even when you’re tired or unsure, push forward, take action, and trust in your abilities—sometimes the best way to grow is just to dive in and do it.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

One of the most important values in my work and personal life is dedication—something I’ve cultivated through training horses. Working with horses requires patience, consistency, and a commitment to growth, and these are the same principles I bring to my professional endeavors and personal relationships.
