"Every setback is a setup for a comeback." I reflect on past accomplishments, remind myself, "I was made for this" and ask what I can learn to move forward.

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Alyson
01What do you attribute your success to?
My mom was such a powerhouse. She was a business consultant at Chevron for 35 years. Watching her hustle and drive as a single mom who never missed appointments or games but still handled her clients and figured everything out taught me to push, speak up, and not be afraid. She was my biggest cheerleader and mentor.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be afraid to say yes to an opportunity even if you're scared or it doesn't fit your plan. Someone told me when I took this job: you got pulled into this role for a reason, don't be afraid. It opened so many doors. Also know your best yes because every yes is a no to something else, and it's okay to say no.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to say yes to an opportunity. It's easy to get scared and think you don't have the skills. Say yes but know when to say no because it's okay to decline a meeting for your kids or spouse. In a male-prevalent field, find your voice and be confident speaking up.
