About Alyssa
Alyssa Sperrazza is a finance and accounting professional serving as Director at SS&C Technologies in New York, where she leads cross-functional teams supporting private equity fund accounting operations. She has built her career within the organization over approximately eight years, progressing through roles including Senior Accountant, Assistant Vice President, Vice President, Associate Director, and now Director. In her current leadership role, she oversees multiple teams, including offshore teams, and is responsible for client delivery, internal business initiatives, hiring, staff development, and operational improvements across financial reporting functions. Her expertise centers on alternative investment fund accounting, particularly private equity limited partnerships. She manages complex deliverables such as financial statement preparation, capital activity reporting, waterfall calculations, audit coordination, and investor allocations. Alyssa is also involved in implementing and improving financial systems and workflows, including reconciliation of financial data and onboarding of new funds. She is known for guiding junior staff, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring accuracy and timeliness in high-volume, deadline-driven environments. Alyssa earned a Master of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting and Marketing) from Wagner College, graduating cum laude. She began her career in audit and tax roles before transitioning into corporate finance and private equity accounting. Alongside her professional advancement, she has pursued CPA certification and maintains ongoing professional development. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it's just my work ethic, and I'm intrinsically motivated. Where some people look at things as a job, I look at it as a career. I'm always trying to improve & provide excellent service to clients. It's incredibly rewarding to see others on your team learn, grow, & advance as well.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is not to be afraid to take on new challenges or make mistakes, as mistakes are an important part of the learning process and professional growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be honest with your abilities and what you put on a resume. Don't settle for a position that you feel is beneath you, but don’t oversell yourself to the point where you can’t meet expectations and always seek to improve and advance.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges I would say are keeping up with volume and complexities that come with the trends in the PE industry while trying to maintain adequate staff to help support it. As for opportunities, there is always room to gain exposure to other clients and become involved in internal business initiatives, and to run a bigger team to scale.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think honesty, intelligence, effort, ability to care, and work ethic are most important to me. It is feasible to teach complex accounting concepts to someone with an inquisitive mind and willingness to learn; however, it is nearly impossible to teach the same to someone unwilling to try or put in effort. Integrity is also crucial, and I think motivation drives everything I do.
