About Amber
Hello All,
My name is Amber. I am a full time professional in healthcare administration, wife and mother. I love being with my family, riding horses when I now watch my daughter follow those same foot steps as I become her cheerleader on the side in my new role as Rodeo Mom. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our friends in the antique farm equipment group and making friends all over the USA and traveling to visit as much as we can. Being with my family, my weekend shopping trips with my grandmother, watching my little nephew grow so quickly, being with my friends as much as we all can within our work schedules, these ae the moments that make my world go round and keep me grounded.
My career started out helping children along with special needs children and adults. In the dental industry learning all the knowledge of my medical terminology, customer service, empathy and daily operations in a healthcare setting. After dental assisting in a clinic I was offered a Dental Assisting Insturctor position at ECPI University to work along side an amazing mentor Sandra S, which this period taught me many valuable lessons on patience and understanding on educating minds. During all this time my great grandmother suffered a life altering medical disability which required her care in a skilled nursing facility at that time, our family agreed and we moved forward with that plan and worked together on being there for her throughout her stay. It was not the best experience for us or her. From there my thoughts were what can I do for someone else like us in this situation to help them understand and feel better, What can I do to make a difference in someone else's life and their experience in a skilled nursing facility.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my success starts with my family, especially my grandparents. They taught me many valuable lessons in life while being a young girl working on our horse farm learning the responsibilities and work ethic that I have today. Watching them work hard to give us the life we deserved and the opportunities that we were able to achieve in life in our competitions. Their constant grind and resilience everyday helped me learn quickly that if I want the things in life I dream of and the success I have to push just as hard. My Husband everyday being my support knowing how much I want success and with that comes the constant on call, work calls, pulling the laptop out at odd times. His support daily and understanding helps me push harder for us and our family. From my professional career I will contribute my success to my Regional Director of Business Development- Jessica A for all the time and training she has taken with me to teach me all the areas of Admissions and Marketing from the internal and external aspects. Katelyn H. for helping me build my community relations with the case manager of our biggest hospital systems in the area and introducing me to this field. There are so many amazing women and men that have helped me in this career field that I will always be grateful for.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never stop pushing for you what you want and your dreams no matter how high they maybe. Another piece of advice is, don't be hard on yourself all the time, try to not take things personally in this field as it is ever changing and growing, it will all work out in the end.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take you time and learn all you can, it won't be overnight but over time you will be a wealth of knowledge if you open yourself to feedback and learning new areas. Learn all you can from the different administrators, regionals and corporate team members as there is so information and knowledge these individuals have and can teach you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Healthcare is ever changing in many aspects and acuity of patient care. Helping families understand this difficult time of uncertainty, being able to help families feel at ease and heard makes it worth it day by day.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values I hold in my personal and professional life is always treating everyone how you would want to be treated. I have seen many days where a simple smile and how are you today with all family and coworkers can go the extra miles in that person's day. Other values I hold close to me is that family time is very important and not missing out on big moments in life. Also knowing when to take step back in your personal and professional life it can be very important for you on the days you feel the most overwhelmed and can't figure out which way is up or down, taking that step back to breathe and catch your thoughts can move bigger mountains you might be stuck climbing at that time.
