Her Interview
Ten minutes with Amy
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to be myself, stay curious, and never be afraid to ask questions. If I don’t know something, I’m honest about it and take the opportunity to learn. I also believe it’s important to take the time to understand the technical aspects of my role, as continuous learning helps me grow both personally and professionally.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to never be afraid to ask questions—there are no dumb questions. If you don’t know the answer, be honest about it, let others know you’ll find the information, and then follow through. I’d also encourage young women to be patient with themselves. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy the work they’re doing.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is the impact of economic conditions, particularly oil and gas fluctuations. These factors have caused many projects, especially in the downstream sector, to be delayed or postponed. Despite these challenges, I believe there are opportunities for professionals who remain adaptable, continue developing their skills, and are prepared when new projects move forward.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trust is the value I hold most highly, both professionally and personally. I want my customers and colleagues to know they can rely on me and trust that I’ll always be honest and genuine. I believe strong relationships are built on integrity, open communication, and making people feel comfortable. Rather than simply pointing out problems, I strive to provide thoughtful solutions that create value and help others succeed.
