Her Story

About Amy

I spent 30 years in software product management, building systems and developing a systems thinking mindset that allowed me to understand how people use systems and what they need in their businesses. I translated those needs into software solutions that made their day more efficient and helped businesses achieve their outcomes. Last June, I transitioned into business ownership as a sole proprietor, where I now take all of that skill set and apply it to helping women who are burned out. I work with them on mindset work, identity work, and implementing different rhythms at home to ease the burden they feel daily. My main area of expertise is being able to really see people and see behind the words they're saying, to understand the struggles they're facing. I can do this because I went through a period of pure survival mode myself for over 10 years. I was a single mom for 5 years with two children, and it was really, really hard. Being able to put systems and solutions into place for myself, and now being able to package that up for others, is incredibly rewarding. As a sole proprietor, I handle everything from technology to marketing to sales to the work I do with women to business infrastructure. My passion for this work comes from my own story and seeing so many women who are put together on the outside but really struggling on the inside.

Ten minutes with Amy

01What do you attribute your success to?

Honestly, I would say God, 100%. I wouldn't be able to do this all on my own. I truly believe that my success comes from that divine support and guidance, and I'm grateful for the blessings that have allowed me to build this business and help other women.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is really about being able to stay true to yourself and who you are, versus going along with what hustle culture says you ought to be. It's counter to what most will say, but staying authentic to yourself rather than conforming to external pressures and expectations has been the most valuable guidance for me.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge and opportunity in my field is addressing the epidemic of burnout among working mothers. There are between 1.8 to 2 million women just in the U.S. who are career moms reporting being severely burned out. The impact is massive - it affects physical health, mental health, spiritual health, and finances. It's estimated that the family with a burned-out mom who also works spends around $16,000 to $21,000 a year just because they're burned out. There's also a huge relational cost. So many women are put together on the outside, but on the inside, they're really, really struggling. All of these factors really made me stop and take stock, because I was burned out myself, and I wanted to get out of that world. Being able to address this widespread issue and pay it forward is both the challenge and the opportunity.
