03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to know themselves, recognize their strengths, and understand the value they bring. Do not allow others to define your worth. Continue to build confidence through your knowledge, experience, and the quality of your work. Always approach what you do with passion, integrity, and love.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my field is not having a bachelor’s degree and having to continuously demonstrate my abilities despite having extensive hands-on experience and proven results. However, this has also strengthened my determination and resilience. An exciting opportunity I am pursuing is opening my own home care agency, where I can create a positive impact by improving the quality of care for clients and enhancing the experience for employees.

The values that are most important to me are faith, excellence, passion, and family. As a Christian, my faith guides my decisions and how I treat others. There is nothing wrong with encouraging employees to continue their education. Learning is valuable, and professional development benefits both individuals and organizations. The problem arises when additional education becomes an unnecessary gatekeeper to promotion, especially when an employee has already proven their value through years of consistent performance.
Too often, organizations claim they reward hard work, dedication, and results. Yet when promotion opportunities arise, some employees are told that despite their reliability, strong work ethic, and record of success, they must first obtain another degree or certification that has little bearing on the responsibilities they have already demonstrated they can handle. This sends a conflicting message: performance alone is not enough.
For employees who have invested years in their organization, consistently met or exceeded expectations, and earned the trust of their supervisors and coworkers, this can be deeply discouraging. It diminishes the value of experience and practical knowledge while placing greater importance on credentials that may not improve job performance. Instead of feeling recognized for their contributions, these employees often feel overlooked and undervalued.
The impact on morale
The impact on morale can be significant. Employees who once took pride in their work may begin to question whether their efforts truly matter. Motivation declines when excellence is met not with opportunity but with another hurdle that seems disconnected from actual job performance.
