Her Interview

Ten minutes with Anamia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the meaningful relationships I have built within the entertainment industry since 2020, beginning through Clubhouse, which opened doors to opportunities such as being invited to the Sundance Film Festival. My journey has been shaped by resilience, determination, and the ability to persevere through significant personal challenges, including relocating from New York to Florida while pregnant, overcoming betrayal, and navigating family hardships. These experiences have strengthened my purpose and inspired me to continue moving forward for my children while using film as a powerful platform to share my story, create awareness, and help others avoid experiencing similar struggles.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received came from my mentor, Jean Ellie, an actor from Insecure on HBO, who taught me the importance of being thoughtful, paying attention to the smallest details, and finding meaningful ways to make a positive impact on others. I have also carried forward the values my mother instilled in me: to do good, support others, and give selflessly without expecting anything in return. These lessons have guided my approach to my career, relationships, and the way I strive to inspire and uplift those around me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to never give up, even when the journey becomes challenging. Success requires resilience, patience, and the courage to continue pursuing your vision despite obstacles along the way. I have learned the importance of perseverance through my own experiences, which have led to opportunities such as receiving multiple festival awards, Billboard and Sundance recognition, and various accolades from international film festivals. Staying committed to your passion and believing in your unique voice can open doors and create lasting impact.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field is the dynamic nature of working as a freelance production assistant, where every project brings new experiences, responsibilities, and opportunities to grow. I have had the privilege of contributing to a variety of productions, including HGTV television projects, football field productions in Jacksonville, and modeling events, which has allowed me to wear many different hats and continuously expand my skills. The ability to adapt, collaborate with diverse teams, and embrace new challenges has been essential to my success in this ever-changing industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are resilience, compassion, honesty, and the commitment to support others. My personal journey through significant challenges, including my husband’s betrayal, losing our home, and caring for my mother while raising my children, has shaped my perspective and strengthened my desire to use film as a way to share my experiences and the lessons I have learned. Through storytelling, I hope to inspire others, help them navigate difficult moments, and provide a sense of connection and hope so they do not have to face similar struggles alone. Above all, being present for my children and supporting them as they grow remains one of my greatest priorities.
