Finding My Purpose Through Public Service

My professional journey in local government has taught me that some of the most meaningful contributions happen behind the scenes.

Working for the City of Ontario, California, I have had the opportunity to support executive leadership, collaborate with professionals across departments, and contribute to initiatives that directly affect the community we serve.

Public service has shown me that leadership extends far beyond making decisions. It involves listening, building relationships, creating opportunities for collaboration, and understanding that every role contributes to something greater.

I have learned that you do not need to be the person standing at the podium to make a difference. Sometimes, the most influential individuals are those who bring people together, encourage others to succeed, and help turn ideas into meaningful action.

That is the type of leader I strive to be.

The Strength Behind Motherhood and Ambition

Being a mother of triplets has been one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences of my life.

Motherhood has taught me patience, adaptability, resilience, and the importance of advocating for those who depend on me. It has also challenged me to redefine what success looks like.

There are days when balancing a demanding career, raising three children, pursuing an advanced degree, and managing a business feels overwhelming. But those moments have also reminded me why I continue to push forward.

I want my children to grow up knowing that their dreams are worth pursuing, that challenges do not define their limitations, and that success requires consistency, courage, and dedication.

Most importantly, I want my daughter to see a woman who never stopped believing in herself and my sons to grow up understanding the strength, capabilities, and contributions of women.

I do not believe women should have to choose between being devoted mothers and pursuing ambitious goals. We deserve the opportunity to be both, even when the journey looks different from what we originally imagined.

Investing in Growth and Creating Opportunities

Education has always been an important part of my journey. After earning my bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master of Business Administration, I made the decision to continue my education by pursuing a Master of Public Administration.

For me, education is about more than earning degrees or adding credentials to my name. It is about challenging myself, expanding my perspective, and developing the knowledge and confidence to create meaningful change.

That same desire for growth inspired me to build my own business, Snatch That Beauty, LLC.

Entrepreneurship has introduced me to a different side of leadership. It requires creativity, vulnerability, consistency, and the willingness to show up even when no one is watching.

Building a business while maintaining a full-time career and raising a family has not always been easy. There have been moments of uncertainty, setbacks, and self-doubt. However, every experience has reinforced an important lesson: progress does not always happen quickly, and success is rarely a straight line.

Sometimes, success is simply having the courage to try again tomorrow.

As I continue developing my business, one of my greatest motivations is creating opportunities to encourage, mentor, and support other women who are pursuing their own entrepreneurial dreams.

I believe that when women support other women, we create a powerful ripple effect that extends beyond individual accomplishments.

Redefining Influence

For many years, I associated success with professional advancement, academic achievements, and reaching the next milestone.

While those accomplishments remain important to me, my understanding of influence has evolved.

Today, I measure success not only by what I accomplish but also by how I make others feel, the opportunities I help create, and the example I set for those around me.

Influence can be found in mentoring a colleague, encouraging another woman to pursue a leadership opportunity, advocating for a community, or demonstrating resilience when circumstances become difficult.

It is about recognizing that our stories, including our struggles, can inspire someone else to keep going.

I am still growing. I am still learning. And I certainly do not have everything figured out.

But I have learned that we do not need to wait until we reach a particular position, achieve a certain level of success, or feel completely prepared before recognizing the value we bring to the world.

A Message to Women Who Are Still Becoming

To the woman balancing motherhood and a career, the woman returning to school, the woman building a business from the ground up, or the woman quietly wondering whether she is capable of achieving more: you are.

Your journey does not have to look like anyone else's.

You can be ambitious and still have moments of uncertainty. You can be successful and still be learning. You can be a strong leader while recognizing that you sometimes need support yourself.

Do not underestimate the impact of your determination, your experiences, or your willingness to keep showing up.

As women, we often spend so much time celebrating the accomplishments of others that we forget to acknowledge our own growth.

I am learning to celebrate not only the milestones I have reached but also the woman I have become along the way.

Because being an influential woman is not about having a perfect story. It is about using YOUR story, YOUR voice, and YOUR experiences to make a difference.

And if my journey encourages even one woman to believe in herself, take a chance, or pursue a dream she once thought was out of reach, then I know I am making an impact worth celebrating.
