Her Story
About Angela
Background
Angela Cain is an accomplished entrepreneur, executive support professional, and community leader with more than two decades of experience helping organizations improve productivity, streamline operations, and achieve sustainable growth. Her career began at Texaco Inc., where nearly 20 years of hands-on work in administration, organization, and business operations laid the foundation for everything that followed.
Entrepreneurial journey
Angela's path into entrepreneurship was shaped by both ambition and experience. After Texaco, she owned and operated a restaurant and catering business in Missouri City, Texas — serving private schools and local communities, and deepening her expertise in leadership, client relationships, and the day-to-day realities of running a business.
That experience gave her something that no credential could: a firsthand understanding of what business owners face when they try to carry everything alone. It's that understanding that drives the work she does today.
Robert Lee and Associates
Today, Angela is the founder of Robert Lee and Associates, a Houston-based executive virtual assistant agency providing high-level administrative and operational support to CEOs, founders, and leadership teams across the country. Through her agency, she helps business owners reclaim valuable time — managing critical administrative functions, optimizing workflows, and building the kind of systems that allow organizations to operate with clarity and confidence.
Education and credentials
Committed to continuous growth, Angela has completed the Women's Entrepreneurship Program at Cornell University, the Nasdaq Women's Entrepreneurship Program, and earned multiple professional certifications to stay current with evolving business technologies and best practices.
Community
Beyond her professional work, Angela is deeply committed to service. She holds leadership roles with Keeta's Place Inc. — a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring young girls through life skills development — and the Order of the Eastern Star, a Christian-based organization focused on charitable outreach and community support. Known for her empathy, her ability to build genuine relationships, and her commitment to helping others succeed, Angela brings that same spirit to every client she serves.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Angela
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being a self-motivated person — it’s something that has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. My mother played a significant role in shaping that. Watching her navigate life as a self-motivator left a lasting impression on me, and I believe I carry a great deal of her spirit when it comes to achievement and pursuing what matters.
I have always been someone who sets goals and works toward them with intention — constantly striving to be the best version of myself. That drive, that determination to keep pushing forward no matter the circumstances, is what has brought me to where I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received didn’t come in the form of words — it came through observation. During my time at Texaco, I had a manager who arrived to work ten minutes before he was scheduled every single day. Over time, I came to understand that this wasn’t just a workplace habit — it was a life principle. Everything in his world was done ten minutes before it was actually due.
That stayed with me. I have carried that simple discipline throughout my entire career, and to this day, I am always early — always ten minutes ahead. It sounds like a small thing, but it has profoundly shaped how I approach my work and honor my commitments.
Sometimes the most powerful lessons aren’t taught. They’re lived — and you just have to be paying attention.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: do what you love. Success is not always about the income you can earn — it begins with passion. In anything you pursue, you have to genuinely love what you do in order to truly excel at it. That love for your work is what will carry you through the hard seasons and help you build something that lasts.
Beyond passion, show up with commitment and dedication — every single day. Be willing to learn, because this industry will always have something new to teach you, and the most successful people in any field are the ones who never stop growing. Stay flexible, because the path will not always go the way you planned, and your ability to adapt is just as important as your ability to execute.
And above all — be confident. Be firm in your decisions. Know your worth, trust your instincts, and do not shrink yourself to make others comfortable. You belong in every room you walk into.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge I am seeing in this field right now is that businesses are having to be much more intentional about where they spend their money. With the current state of the economy, a lot of things have slowed down — and over the past three months especially, that shift has been very noticeable. Companies are tightening their budgets, which directly affects how they approach hiring administrative support and virtual assistant services.
But where there is challenge, there is also opportunity. The same economic pressure that makes businesses cautious about spending is the very thing that makes virtual assistant services more valuable. When companies cannot afford full-time staff, they still need the work done — and that is exactly where we come in. Businesses across every industry are recognizing that partnering with a virtual assistant is not just a cost-effective solution, it is a smart one.
This field continues to present tremendous opportunities for those who are positioned well and ready to serve. The need is real, the demand is growing, and for agencies like ours, that means there is meaningful work to be done and real impact to be made.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The value that's most important to me in both my work and personal life is relationships. I truly value relationships because I always feel that you never know what a person is going through. So I like to make sure, or at least I try to make sure, that I have an open-minded relationship with people. We just never know what someone might be dealing with, and maintaining strong, genuine relationships helps me stay connected and supportive to the people around me, whether that's in my professional work or in my personal life. It's about being present and understanding for others.
