Her Story

About Angelica

My hospitality journey began 7 years ago at Bluffs Landing Marina and Lodge, a small marina resort where I was given an incredible opportunity to wear many hats. I wasn't just involved in the housekeeping side of hospitality - I also got to help with a major rebranding project that included interior designing and gathering an entire crew for the company. My role there encompassed guest services manager, marketing executive, and event coordinator responsibilities, and I led a full housekeeping team while managing the operational work behind running the hotel. After working as an assistant area manager for about a year, I transitioned into account management in October and joined Avante's Day, where I've been for a little over a year now. It's a completely different part of hospitality, but still in the same category - I focus on owner relations, dealing directly with homeowners. Currently, I oversee a portfolio of over 200 properties in both Port Aransas and Corpus Christi, Texas. What I love most about hospitality is the customer service aspect - making customers happy, making business owners happy, just the overall customer service part of it. My role is super high-paced, and being able to multitask and keep up with multiple different things gives me reassurance that what I'm doing is good. I'm also working on developing skills in web design with the goal of eventually starting my own business focused on customization, starting with small businesses and eventually targeting big companies to customize websites for their businesses. I'm still learning and building from the ground up, but I only see myself expanding from here.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think my greatest accomplishment has been just progressing and growing within all the roles I've been in, from starting in hospitality to where I am now. I only see myself expanding from here, so it's really about just learning and growing as I go. Being able to multitask in multiple different things within my role, especially since it's super high-paced, and being able to keep up definitely gives me the reassurance that what I'm doing is good.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

What really drives me in my work is customer service - I love making customers happy, business owners happy, owners in general. The customer service part of hospitality is what attracted me to get involved in this field in the first place. I'm very passionate about building relationships with owners and clients, which is why I'm so well-positioned in my current role in owner relations. Looking to the future, I want to live in Costa Rica or somewhere in Central America, and I'm working toward owning my own business that would be something in relation to customer service and web design, focusing on customization for businesses.
