Her Story
About Angelika
My career journey began in healthcare, where I spent 12 years building experience across multiple roles. In high school, I took vocational classes that allowed me to gain knowledge of the medical field and become certified as a medical assistant. This led to obtaining my CNA license, and I moved up through various positions including front desk receptionist in the nursing field and business office manager assistant, where I helped with HR. I did a lot of everything in that healthcare setting. About 3 years ago, a colleague I worked with in healthcare told me about an opportunity that would pay better and offer more work-life balance. I started as an administrative assistant and moved up to recruiter a little before my first year. I've been recruiting now for almost 2 years, hitting my 2-year mark in May. My day-to-day involves spinning my wheels all day long, it's insane. There's unpredictability, needing to drop what I'm doing and jump into something else, prioritizing different needs for the company. I do multiple types of recruiting for industrial manufacturing, corporate recruiting, labor positions, warehouse positions, and executive positions. I've done a little bit of everything. I'm also a social media influencer, which I started back in 2020 during COVID, and I continue to grow my platform in my spare time. What I find most rewarding about my work is when I can tell someone they're accepted for a position after they haven't had employment for such a long time. Being the one to help them gain that employment, even if it's just for a couple of months or if it's temporary or long-term permanent, hearing them say thank you and God bless you is the most favorite thing about my job. I'm not one of those people that will fight in the organization for a candidate or anything like that. I view it as I'm trying to help this person get a job. I don't care about commissions, this person needs to work, and that's all I care about at the end of the day.

Ten minutes with Angelika
01What do you attribute your success to?
I definitely attribute my success to the passion that I have for people at the end of the day. It's also my willingness to learn and to be strategic overall. I don't get into recruiting thinking about big bucks or commissions. I'm not one of those people that will fight in the organization for a candidate. I view it as I'm trying to help this person get a job. I don't care if someone else gets the commission, this person needs to work, and that's all I care about at the end of the day. My focus is on helping people gain employment, and that's what drives me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You're going to have your challenging times. You're going to have your challenging moments. You're going to have your moments where you want to pull out your hair. But at the end of the day, it is truly rewarding, so my advice would just be take it one day at a time. Focus on what's gonna move the needle for you. Worry about the things that you can control.
