Anita Bustos is a seasoned financial services professional and Senior Client Advisor at OAC Capital Advisors, bringing more than four decades of experience in private banking, wealth management, and international finance. Born in Chicago and raised in Argentina, Anita originally pursued a path in marine biology before discovering her passion for finance. She began her career at Citibank in Mar del Plata and quickly progressed through the ranks, ultimately relocating to New York and later Miami, where her Spanish fluency and global perspective became invaluable assets. Her 35-year tenure at Citibank included serving as a Director in the Private Bank, specializing in high-net-worth Venezuelan clients and navigating complex investment needs across hedge funds, private equity, trusts, real estate, and multi-jurisdictional portfolios. Following her retirement from Citibank in 2019, Anita continued to serve select clients through multi-family office platforms, holding senior advisory roles with Clairmont Investment Advisors, Octogone NA, and ultimately OAC Capital Advisors. Today, she works in a semi-retired capacity, managing a small number of long-standing client relationships from her home while maintaining the high standards and personalized service that defined her banking career. Known for her disciplined work ethic, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning, Anita credits her success to asking questions, exceeding expectations, and seeking mentorship—values she now shares as advice to young women entering the finance industry. Beyond her professional achievements, Anita is deeply committed to philanthropy and community service. For over 26 years, she has been an active sponsor through World Vision, supporting children in India, Cambodia and Ecuador with education, clean water, healthcare, and essential resources. She has also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, participating in hands-on home-building projects. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three dogs and staying active through paddle ball. A proud mother and lifelong learner, Anita embodies compassion, resilience, and global perspective, leaving a meaningful impact on both her clients and the communities she serves.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

My success may be attributed to my perseverance, constant curiosity and the need to help non-English speaking customers, which are my main clients and I have devoted my life to service them.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To continue to better myself and pursue a master's degree in finances.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to strive to exceed expectations, you need to seek out mentorship, you have to always ask questions, and you have to continuously advance your knowledge and capabilities through structured learning and development to stay confident and competitive. And very important: always be kind, especially toward those who may have less experience or responsibility.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges now are the same as in other fields, like underrepresentation in leadership, bias and stereotyping and demanding work-life dynamics. But on the other hand, the opportunities come by growing demand for diverse perspectives, where firms increasingly recognize that gender-diverse team outperform on risk management, decision-making, and client engagement. Women are sought after for the value they bring and now firms offer leadership programs for woman, mentorship and sponsorship channels and flexible work arrangements. More women are now leading teams, funds, and business lines. New voices help reshape outdated aspects of the industry, creating more inclusive, collaborative, and ethical work environments.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I put my clients first, avoiding conflicts of interest. I act with loyalty and good faith. Honesty is very important as well as Transparency. Integrity and Respect are foundational values.
