Anita W. Gillespie, MSN, BSN, RN

Anita W. Gillespie, MSN, BSN, RN, is an accomplished nursing professional with more than four decades of experience in healthcare, education, and clinical leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from North Carolina A&T State University and later completed a Master of Science in Nursing Education from South University. Throughout her career, Anita has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient-centered care, professional development, and preparing the next generation of nurses through mentorship, education, and compassionate practice.

Anita’s extensive nursing background includes emergency care, intensive care, labor and delivery, women’s health, and clinical administration. During her long career at Mercy Hospital Anderson, she served in multiple leadership and clinical roles, including clinical coordinator and supervisor, where she helped establish and manage a women’s health surgical unit. She has also contributed to nursing education as a clinical instructor and educator with institutions including Fortis Colleges and Institutes, Northern Kentucky University, and Beckfield College. In addition to her hospital and academic work, Anita provided healthcare services through roles supporting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including her work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a Clinic Registered Nurse, where she delivered nursing care and health management services in a federal workplace setting.

Beyond her professional achievements, Anita is dedicated to community wellness, mentorship, and lifelong learning. She continues to support nursing students through tutoring and guidance while remaining active in professional organizations such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Sigma Theta Tau. She is also developing her future company, Grandma Reads LLC, focused on promoting literacy and positive learning experiences for children. Through her healthcare service, volunteer efforts, and entrepreneurial vision, Anita continues to inspire others by demonstrating that nursing is not only a profession but a lifelong mission of compassion, education, and service to the community.
