Anita Trupiano is a Program Development Analyst at Rutgers Cancer Institute with expertise in clinical research compliance and regulatory affairs since 2010. She leads efforts in ClinicalTrials.gov oversight, FDAAA compliance, and research integrity. Anita serves as International Co-Editor for the Regulatory and Compliance Section of the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), is a nationally recognized speaker, and a published author.
She holds a bachelor's degree in Education from Farmingdale State College and a master's degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport. Anita attributes her success to curiosity, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Throughout her career, Anita has developed effective compliance strategies that support academic medical research and protect the integrity of clinical trials. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to, curiosity, proactive mindset, and a commitment to continuous learning. Throughout my career, I look for opportunities not only to solve problems, but to improve the systems and processes that I support in clinical research. I enjoy learning, asking questions, and finding better ways to work. I also believe success is built through collaboration. Clinical research is a team effort, and I've been fortunate to work for a long-time talent, very talented investigators research professionals and industry partners who share common goal of advancing medicine. So, staying curious, embracing change, and remaining committed to excellence have been the foundation of my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advices I've ever received is never to stop learning Clinical research is constantly evolving, and there are always some way… something new to understand, whether it's regulation, a technology or a different way of approaching a challenge. That advice encouraged me to remain open to new experiences, pursue leadership opportunities, and continue expanding my expertise. I believe that investing in your professional growth not only benefits your own career, but also enables you to make a great contribution to your organization and the clinical research community.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to be curious build relationships and don't be afraid to take on challenges that push you outside your comfort zone. I think, clinical research offers many different career paths, and every experience helps you develop new skills and perspectives. And I would also say to find mentors who are willing to share their knowledge, ask questions, and stay engaged in professional organizations and educational opportunities. And most importantly, believe in I think the confidence develops through experience and every challenge is an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest opportunities in clinical research is the ability to use technology, innovation, and collaborate to improve the efficiency and quality of research. And as the industry continues to evolve, regulatory professionals have an important role in helping organizations navigate increased complex requirements while maintaining a strong focus on ethics, compliance and patient safety. continuous learning and adaptability are essential, and I believe those who embrace change while building strong regulatory and operational foundations will help shape the future of clinical research. There's so much change, its hard to keep up. Its not hard to keep up, but its challenging to keep up.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I'd have to say integrity, collaboration continuous improvements are the values that guide me every day. I believe integrity is the foundation of trust, and trust is essential in clinical research. I value collaboration because meaningful progress happens when people work together. share ideas and learn from one another. I also believe there's always an opportunity to improve, whether developing in process, mentoring colleagues, or contributing to a personal organizations. I strive to leave every project and every team stronger than I've found, and those values have shaped my career and continue to inspire the work I do.
