Her Story

About Ankita

I've never put myself or stopped myself in one field - I've explored different fields in different markets throughout my 10-year career. My journey started with HSBC in the financial banking sector in 2016, where I worked in the account section helping with US and UK accounts, credit cards, and loans for 2 years. I then moved to digital marketing, supporting a third party for Google, which was a good learning experience that I'm now adapting in my personal life. After that, I spent close to 5 years at Randstad, one of the leading staffing companies in India and the US, as an assistant manager and sourcing lead. We had different profiles including account manager roles and IT roles, and I had direct partnerships with stakeholders in the US and clients. When my husband got a transfer to the US for his engineering work, I moved to New Jersey. The first year, or six months, was too difficult for me to get a job here, but I never tried to stop or get stuck in my field. I explored different opportunities, and one of the companies reached out to me personally for a customer experience manager role. I joined THG, The Hut Group, last year and I'm loving it. It's one of the leading e-commerce companies with different brands like My Protein, Dermstore, Perricone, and Biossance. I have my own good team and company, so it's been a journey, to be frank.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Ankita

01What do you attribute your success to?

I've been very positive in my roles in any organization that I've worked with over the last 10 years. The most important thing is accepting feedbacks, whether it be a positive or a negative feedback. Only when you accept those feedbacks, that's how you would grow in your role. This has helped me since my first year - I've always taken feedback so constructively, I've worked towards them, I've improved, and I've seen myself grow in the last 10 years. I would suggest anybody taking those feedbacks that they are getting from their managers or in the organization, take them constructively, work towards them, and that's it. You will grow in your life, and no one could stop you. Also, manifestation has been part of my journey - I manifest a lot, and I manifest all positive outcomes. The more you manifest, I think that becomes true. Having positive outcomes towards everything is key. If you have a positive approach, most of the things will be easy for you, but if you have a negative approach, you will see things negatively. I always have a positive approach, so that has always helped me leading on things and growing my life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The most important thing is accepting feedbacks, whether it be a positive or a negative feedback. Only when you accept those feedbacks, that's how you would grow in your role. I think that has helped me since my first year in the last 10 years. Since my first year when I started my job, I've always taken feedback so constructively, I've worked towards them, I've improved, and I've seen myself grow in the last 10 years. I would suggest anybody taking those feedbacks that they are getting from their managers or in the organization, take them constructively, work towards them, and that's it. You will grow in your life, and no one could stop you.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

In my day-to-day life, what I say is being positive at all times. Manifestation has been part of my journey, so I manifest a lot, and I manifest all positive outcomes. The more you manifest, I think that becomes true. Also, having positive outcomes towards everything is important. If you have a positive approach, I would say most of the things will be easy for you, but if you have a negative approach, you will see things negatively. I don't do that. I always have a positive approach, so that has always helped me leading on things and growing my life. I've not forced myself to just stop in one field or to just experience one of the skills. I have always kept open, and I really like getting good knowledge about different kinds of skill sets that are there in the market today, because that will definitely help you grow in your career and help you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge is moving from one sector to the other. I would say experiencing different fields has been a challenge, but this also has given me an opportunity to learn new parameters and new aspects of life. Like I said, I was in the banking field, and then I moved to digital marketing, then I moved into the HR side of things, and now I'm into customer service experience. I have not forced myself to just stop in one field or to just experience one of the skills. I have always kept open, and I really like getting good knowledge about different kinds of skill sets that are there in the market today, because that will definitely help you grow in your career and help you.
