About Anna

Anna McCombs is an accomplished attorney and real estate professional based in Garden City, New York. She is the founder and attorney at the Law Offices of Anna A. McCombs, P.C., where she focuses on real estate transactions, commercial lease negotiations, short sales, surplus monies litigation and recovery, and related matters. Before establishing her own practice in 2015, Anna worked as an associate attorney at Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP and held leadership roles in business development and real estate brokerage. She is also the founder and real estate broker at the Sherwood Real Estate Advisors LLC. With years of experience as a licensed real estate broker and investor, she brings a practical, business-minded perspective to every matter. Her background allows her to understand the complexities of property ownership and investment while anticipating potential challenges and identifying opportunities. By combining legal insight with hands-on real estate and business experience, she helps clients make informed decisions, manage risk, and achieve their objectives.

Anna earned her Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. She previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Chemistry from Hunter College and was recognized on the Dean’s List. During law school, she also participated in an intensive program through the National Center for Border Security and Immigration, El Paso, TX, gaining exposure to immigration law, federal policies, and Fourth Amendment issues. The field experience included a close engagement with Customs and Border Protection in the El Paso Sector and Immigration Court observations of live removal, asylum, and bond proceedings before immigration judges.

Beyond her legal and real estate career, Anna is deeply involved in community and civic leadership. She serves as Vice President of the Franklin Square Union Free School District Board of Education and is an Executive Committee Member of the Nassau-Suffolk School Boards Association. She is also active in youth and community initiatives, including Girl Scouts and leadership programs that connect community leaders.

Outside of work, Anna enjoys spending time with her children and family, traveling, experiencing different cultures, and connecting with nature. She also values taking time to relax and recharge, embracing a balanced approach to both her professional commitments and her involvement in the community.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Anna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to setting clear goals, remaining adaptable in how I pursue them, and maintaining a genuine passion for my work. I make it a priority to listen closely to my clients, understand their unique needs, and help them achieve their goals. Equally important, I am inspired by the opportunity to contribute to and help shape the next generation. That commitment continues to motivate me to grow personally and professionally while making a meaningful and lasting impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is that professional success does not have to come at the expense of family or personal priorities. With clear goals, thoughtful planning, and balance, it’s possible to build a fulfilling career while making time for the people and things that matter most.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be confident, courageous, and unapologetically ambitious. Believe in your abilities, trust your instincts, and don’t let anyone convince you that you are not capable of achieving your goals. There will always be challenges, but with perseverance, confidence, and a willingness to take risks, you can create your own path and succeed on your own terms.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest opportunities for women in my field is the ability to take on leadership roles and have a meaningful voice in industries where women were once underrepresented. While challenges remain, I believe women today have more opportunities than ever to build successful careers, lead with confidence, and create pathways for those who follow.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity, honesty, and humility. I believe in keeping my word, honoring my commitments, and treating others with respect and sincerity.
