Her Interview

Ten minutes with Annette

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my role as a “Culture Maven”—someone who focuses on aligning people, purpose, and performance to bring out the best in both individuals and the organization. I’m intentional about helping others discover their strengths and passions, ensuring they are in roles where they can thrive, while also building teams that are stronger and more cohesive than when I first arrived. As the first in my family to earn both a college degree and an MBA, I’ve learned to view every person and experience as an opportunity to grow—taking lessons from all situations to continuously improve. I lead with faith, putting God first, and strive to be an example for my family and those around me, bringing others along in that journey. My personal philosophy, “Strive with Purpose,” reflects my belief that true success comes from doing work that brings meaning and fulfillment, not just checking boxes. While my educational background in business, HR, and various certifications has provided a strong foundation, it’s the lived experience—over 20 years of listening, learning, and leading—that has ultimately shaped my success.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to “trust the process”—something that has stayed with me since my 20s. I’ve come to believe that everything happens for a reason, which has helped me stay grounded in my values and recognize that our paths are shaped by both experience and faith. Not every role or challenge makes sense in the moment, but each one serves a purpose in preparing you for what’s ahead. I’ve learned to view life’s experiences as lessons, trust God’s timing, and remain open and resilient, knowing that I’ll be guided toward my true calling. Above all, never give up—because persistence, paired with faith and a commitment to growth, is what transforms opportunities into meaningful impact and aligns your work with something greater than a title.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple but powerful: find your passion and let it guide you. When you’re truly aligned with what fulfills you, the long days and hard work don’t feel like burdens—they become part of the journey you’re willing to embrace. If you’re chasing something because others expect it or because it looks good on paper, it will be much harder to sustain and succeed. I always come back to the idea of “Strive with Purpose”—it’s not about checking boxes, it’s about discovering what makes you thrive. When your work brings you energy, joy, and meaning, you naturally rise to be your best in that space. Trust that the vision placed in your heart is there for a reason—God has given you unique gifts to fulfill it. Stay true to who you are, find your voice, and stand confidently in it. You don’t need to shrink yourself to fit into any room or relationship. Strength comes from authenticity, and when you lead with purpose and conviction, you create your own path.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in this field lie in balancing growth with financial sustainability, attracting and retaining top talent, and ensuring consistent execution across regions—all while meeting increasing expectations for accountability and impact. At the same time, these challenges create meaningful opportunities for leaders who can build scalable systems, foster purpose-driven cultures, and leverage data and technology to drive results. Ultimately, success comes down to aligning mission with execution—ensuring organizations can grow while staying true to the purpose that drives their impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and personal life are rooted in faith, family, service, and purpose. My family is at the center of everything I do—I’m a mother of five, and I’m deeply committed not only to supporting their growth, but also to modeling what it means to live a meaningful, values-driven life. I lead with God first, striving to act with integrity, compassion, and intention in all areas. I value holistic well-being, which is reflected in my 25-year yoga practice and my work as a certified instructor, helping others find balance and clarity. Service is also core to who I am—through my involvement with organizations like Misericordia and my work in financial literacy with H.O.M.E. DuPage and fundraising overall. I’m passionate about supporting others, especially individuals and families navigating unique challenges. I’m naturally a connector, driven to bring people together, build strong teams, and create opportunities for others to grow. At my core, I believe in helping people help themselves, staying resilient, and leading a life grounded in purpose, faith, and community.
