Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a lot of hard work and determination. Moving from Alaska to New York City was a big step, but it pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several well-known companies and businesses, each experience shaping me into the architect I am today. It hasn’t always been easy, but my persistence and passion for design have carried me forward.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came through the guidance of my three amazing mentors Lisa Knip, Jon Lannan, and Dale Snythe. They’ve each played a huge role in helping me get to where I am today, and their support has taught me the importance of surrounding yourself with positive, inspiring people. Having the right mentors and colleagues not only keeps you motivated but also reminds you to keep learning, growing, and pushing yourself forward.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the architecture industry is simple: you can do anything you set your mind to just believe in yourself. Confidence and perseverance are key, and when you trust your abilities, you’ll find the strength to overcome challenges and create opportunities. Don’t be afraid to take up space, share your ideas, and let your passion guide you forward.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and also one of the greatest opportunities in architecture right now is learning how to stay inspired and motivated no matter the circumstances. This field can be demanding, but those who remain committed, adaptable, and passionate are the ones who continue to grow and make an impact. By working hard and keeping that spark of creativity alive, architects can turn challenges into opportunities for innovation and lasting influence.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are hard work and the willingness to step outside of my comfort zone. I believe that real growth comes from challenging yourself, even in uncomfortable situations, because that’s where you discover your full potential. Whether in my work or personal life, I strive to push boundaries, keep learning, and always hold myself to the highest standard so I can continue to evolve and contribute meaningfully.
