April Doughtie is an experienced appraisal industry professional who has worked in the field since 2015. She currently serves as an Operations Team Lead and Appraisal Reviewer at Karis Management Group, LLC, where she leads a team of processors and process analysts. In her role, she focuses on developing and implementing processes that help her team succeed while supporting effective appraisal operations and review. Throughout her career, April has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, process improvement, and professional development. Her contributions have been recognized by her company's leadership team, which honored her as the first employee to embody five of the organization's core values. She has also gained experience as an Appraisal Reviewer with Movement Mortgage, further supporting her expertise in appraisal review and operations. Beyond her professional responsibilities, April is committed to serving her community. She serves as a board member for the Children's Health Investment Program of Southampton Roads, a nonprofit focused on supporting children and mothers, and advocates for people with health disabilities. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the people who believed in me, especially when I was still learning to believe in myself. I am also grateful for my village of people who cheer me on, support me, and hold me accountable.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Remember that you already have what it takes, but you have to believe in yourself to continue to grow and lead.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering the industry to believe in themselves and always put their best foot forward. The industry can have many ups and downs, but when you believe in yourself and remain committed to what you want to accomplish, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Kindness and integrity are the two values that matter most to me. I believe in treating others with kindness and treating people the way I would want to be treated. I also believe in having the integrity to do the right thing, even when it is difficult.
