Her Story
About April
April Shearn is the Owner and Personal Stylist of Du Jour Elegance, a styling brand she officially launched in June 2024. She brings over 20 years of dedicated service to the Virginia Department of Corrections, where she began her career as a correctional officer and served in uniform for nearly 18 years before transitioning into a corporate office role. She currently serves as a Program Support Technician in the Court and Legal Department. Alongside her longstanding public service career, April has cultivated a deep and lifelong passion for fashion and personal styling. Her love for thrifting has been a consistent source of inspiration and grounding for her, which she describes as therapeutic and restorative. From an early age, she developed a natural eye for style, often creating unique and polished looks from thrift stores and later expanding into department store fashion. This creativity and instinct for putting outfits together became the foundation for Du Jour Elegance, a business born during a challenging season in her life. During that time, she received the vision and name for her business, which she attributes to divine inspiration and purpose. Today, Du Jour Elegance reflects April’s commitment to helping women feel confident, empowered, and seen through intentional personal style. She provides personal styling consultations, wardrobe curation, personal shopping, and special event styling services, working closely with clients to elevate their everyday image and build wardrobes that reflect their individuality. While she continues to grow her client base alongside her full-time career, her long-term goal is to transition fully into her styling business. Outside of her professional life, April is a devoted mother to her 26-year-old daughter and finds joy in reading, journaling, and serving actively in her church community. For April, styling is more than a business—it is a purpose-driven ministry rooted in service, encouragement, and the belief that every woman deserves to feel confident, valued, and beautifully expressed through her personal style.
