Her Story

About Ashlee

Events is kind of my niche, and I've been able to really create a lane for myself in events through just kind of positioning myself to be a part of community-based events and things like that that are happening in my local community, and just wanting to see new opportunities come to the community that I'm in now. Creating Celebrez la Femme is my most notable professional achievement because I've been able to create something for the women in the community that I was born in. I grew up in a different town, and one of my dreams has been to eventually move back to the Eastern Shore and to pour into women that are from my own backyard, the people that have been around for a long time. I really wanted to just come back and kind of showcase and share the things that I've learned over the years. I moved back to the eastern shore of Maryland in 2021 and decided that I wanted to create something for women, showcasing my skills in award show logistics, kind of wanting to get back to some of that through creating a nonprofit that celebrates women and their achievements here on the Eastern Shore.

01What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The one thing that means a lot to me is that the people in my community, the women in my community can see that it doesn't matter where you are in the world, that people will find you and they will find your work. Even if that means that you're working so hard and you feel like no one is going to see the things that you're doing, there's always someone listening, always someone watching, and I just want to kind of empower them to keep going, because folks will see that you're working hard and that the things that you do are valuable. Making connections is something that means a lot to me, and it also helps to shape the conversations that we have through my nonprofit organization and the programs that we put on for the community. I spend a lot of time just listening to the people around me, building intimate relationships with them.
