Her Interview
Ten minutes with Ashley
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a willingness to take a non-linear path and to keep learning. My path wasn't super linear but it gave me variety, starting with competitive cheerleading and managing marketing there on a small scale before falling into it after graduation. Being Gen Z who grew up in rural Iowa gives me a unique perspective especially for women in agriculture.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise learning the whole business not just your specific job and not being scared to ask questions or being embarrassed that you don't know everything. Learning the business side of agriculture has been interesting and valuable.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is adapting to AI as a tool in marketing. AI has changed the way we do things but there's space for it and we use it to our advantage when we can. Customers can tell when marketing feels genuine and in agriculture credibility and trust matter more than flashiness.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value contributing to my perspective as a Gen Z who grew up in rural Iowa which is a unique intersection especially for women in agriculture where there is a lot of space for women. In my personal life I do a lot of volunteering as a cheer coach which gives me a full variety of marketing experience.
