About Barbara

Barbara Cardarelli is the CEO and Founder of The Behind the Scenes Blonde, a luxury wedding and events content creation company dedicated to capturing the authentic, behind-the-scenes moments that make celebrations truly memorable. She specializes in real-time content creation, producing social-ready photos and videos that allow couples, families, and brands to relive and share their experiences shortly after an event. Her work complements traditional photography and videography by highlighting candid interactions, emotional reactions, event details, and spontaneous moments that may otherwise go undocumented. Cardarelli brings a strong foundation in event planning, project management, social media strategy, and client relations to her entrepreneurial role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hunter College. Driven by creativity, initiative, and a commitment to creating meaningful experiences, Cardarelli is passionate about building a distinctive presence within the evolving wedding and events industry. Cardarelli credits her mother, a single parent and social worker, with inspiring her strong work ethic and determination. She encourages aspiring professionals to take action rather than wait for perfect circumstances, build confidence through experience, and embrace opportunities that challenge them to grow.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Barbara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to my mother, who has been my greatest mentor, role model, and source of inspiration. As a single mother who built a successful career as a social worker, she demonstrated the value of hard work, resilience, dedication, and perseverance while always prioritizing providing for our family. Her strength and determination have shaped my work ethic and continue to motivate me to pursue my goals, embrace challenges, and strive for excellence in everything I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is that you do not need to have every detail figured out before you begin. It is important not to wait until you feel completely ready or until everything is perfect, because some of the most valuable lessons come from taking action, gaining experience, and learning along the way. I believe that starting, listening, adapting, and continuously refining your approach is what ultimately leads to growth and sets you apart professionally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to avoid waiting for the perfect plan or feeling completely confident before taking the next step. It is easy to let other people’s opinions, especially comments about being too young or inexperienced, create self-doubt, but confidence often comes from taking action and learning through experience. Be willing to make mistakes, adapt, and figure things out along the way, because those experiences are an important part of building something that is truly your own. Most importantly, say yes to opportunities that challenge you and may feel a little outside your comfort zone, because those moments can lead to the greatest personal and professional growth.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in my field is educating clients about the distinct value of event content creation and how it complements, rather than replaces, traditional photography and videography. Photographers create timeless, professionally composed images, while videographers capture the full wedding film; my role is to document everything in between, including candid reactions, conversations, behind-the-scenes moments, and the small details that make each celebration unique. By providing this content with a quick turnaround, I give couples the opportunity to relive and share their wedding experience almost immediately, rather than waiting weeks or months for their professional media.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me are hard work, compassion, meaningful relationships, and embracing opportunities for growth. My mother has been my greatest mentor and taught me the importance of dedication, perseverance, and always giving my best. Building genuine relationships through networking, supporting others, and being willing to say yes to new opportunities are also important to me, both personally and professionally.
