What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the unwavering support and values instilled by my parents and family, who taught me the importance of integrity, hard work, and service—and inspired my belief that we are here not just to lead, but to improve lives as responsible stewards of our communities and future.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was to stay coachable—something I learned early as a female athlete pushed beyond my comfort zone—while never losing sight of the importance of being smart, bold, and a lifelong learner off the field.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in yourself, never lose sight of your value, and take every opportunity to explore, learn, and grow—especially while you're young and discovering what truly inspires you.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in this field is navigating constant change with resilience; as a self-proclaimed empathist who struggles to let things go, Barbara sees possibility where others see limits, and on most days, "no" simply isn’t in her vocabulary.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me—both professionally and personally—are being intentional, congruent, kind, and thoughtful, while always striving to take care of others along the way.
