Bessy Arriaga is a supply chain and operations leader with more than 25 years of experience in purchasing, logistics, transportation, international trade and regional operations across Central America and the United States.
Born and raised in Honduras, Bessy believes that your beginnings do not define your limits. At the age of 16, her father introduced her to the world of transportation, shipping, logistics, and supply chain, inspiring a career built on hard work, integrity, and continuous learning.
Today, she serves as Regional Purchasing and Logistics Manager, leading initiatives in supply chain, procurement, stakeholder management, operational improvements, vendor partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration. Her experience includes managing logistics and worldwide operations, strengthening supplier relationships, and implementing efficient solutions across global supply chains. She is passionate about solving operational challenges, building strong relationships, and creating value through collaboration and service. Colleagues know her as someone they can rely on to navigate high-pressure situations, honor commitments, and consistently deliver results.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience and knowing I don't know everything. I can never stop learning. Life has taught me that there will always be challenges, but every setback is an opportunity to grow. I've also been incredibly fortunate to have mentors who believed in me and challenged me to become better. Most importantly, I try to approach every opportunity with gratitude, work hard, treat people with respect. Inspired by God, motivated by my family.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One piece of career advice has stayed with me throughout my professional journey: 'Always take the high road.' It reminds me that while we can't control every situation, we can always control how we respond. Choosing professionalism, and respect has helped me build strong relationships, earn trust, and grow as both a leader and a person.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Believe in yourself, even before everyone else does. Never stop learning, ask questions, and don't be afraid to take on new challenges. Build strong relationships, seek mentors who will help you grow, and remember that your reputation is built through willingness to learn, reliability, and the way you treat others every day.
At the same time, don't let one mistake define your future. We all face setbacks. What matters is taking responsibility, learning from them, rebuilding with determination, and continuing to move forward. Your future will always be shaped more by what you choose to do next than by what happened yesterday.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the most exciting aspects of the supply chain industry is that it's constantly evolving. With that evolution comes challenges, including global disruptions, changing customer expectations, advances in technology, and the need for greater supply chain resilience.
I see those challenges as opportunities to innovate, strengthen partnerships, improve processes, and continuously learn. Organizations that embrace collaboration, invest in technology, and build resilient supply chains will be better positioned for long-term success.
For me, supply chain is about much more than moving products from one place to another. It's about connecting people, building trusted relationships, solving complex problems, and creating value across the entire organization. Every challenge is an opportunity to improve, every relationship is an opportunity to build trust, and every day is an opportunity to learn something new. That's what has kept me passionate about this profession for more than 30 years.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Resilience and hard work is at the heart of everything I do. I believe trust is earned through honesty, accountability, and consistently doing the right thing—even when no one is watching. I value resilience because life and business will always present challenges, and I've learned that it's not the setbacks that define us, but how we respond to them.
I also believe in serving others, building meaningful relationships, and treating every person with respect. At the end of the day, I hope people remember me not just for what I accomplished, but for how I treated others and the positive impact I had on their lives.

The Courage to Begin - Again
Success isn't a race—it's a journey of resilience, integrity, and becoming who you're meant to be.
For many years, I believed success had a timeline.
I believed I needed to get married by a certain age, build the perfect family, and reach an executive level before everyone else. When that path took a different turn, it felt like I had fallen behind and that the opportunity had passed.
Life taught me something very different. One of the defining moments of my life was becoming a single mother of twins. What once felt like my greatest challenge became my greatest strength. My children gave my life a deeper purpose and inspired me to keep moving forward. I wanted to show them what perseverance, courage, and resilience looked like—not just through my words, but through my actions.
Today, I don't measure success by how quickly I reach a destination. I measure it by the integrity with which I work, the relationships I build, and the positive impact I leave on the people around me.
My Career
My career has taken me across countries, cultures, and complex challenges. I've had the privilege of working for many years in logistics, supply chain, purchasing, customer service, and operations—opening offices, building teams, solving complex problems, and supporting people from different backgrounds.
Through those experiences, I learned that leadership isn't about having all the answers—it's about serving others, earning trust, and continuing to learn and grow.
The Greatest Lesson About Resilience
The greatest lesson about resilience didn't come from my career or school.
It came from my parents.
My mother, after losing my father following nearly 50 years of marriage, chose to continue pursuing a dream they had shared. At age 75, she continued working toward her master's degree in human resources. Just two months after my father's passing, she graduated summa cum laude. Instead of celebrating the achievement as they had planned, she dedicated it to him.
Watching her changed the way I saw life forever.
It taught me that our circumstances do not define our future. We are never too old to learn, too late to start over, or too far behind to pursue a dream.
That lesson has shaped the way I approach both my personal life and my career.
Leadership isn't about perfection. It's about resilience, treating people with respect, and continuing to learn—even when no one is asking you to.

Today, I have the privilege of doing work I genuinely love. Every day brings an opportunity to learn something new, improve processes, build meaningful relationships, lead with integrity, and create value for others. Most importantly, it reminds me that every chapter of my journey—even the difficult ones—prepared me for the life I'm living today.
