Betty Byers is an accomplished retail leader with more than 15 years of management experience across big-box and specialty retail environments. She currently serves as Eastern Regional Manager at Theisen's Home Farm Auto, where she oversees multi-store operations and drives performance through strong leadership, merchandising excellence, and a customer-first philosophy. Based in Eldridge, Iowa, Betty is known for building high-performing teams and creating store environments that balance operational discipline with an engaging customer experience. Throughout her career, Betty has progressed through increasingly senior leadership roles, including Store Manager positions in Monticello, and Davenport, Iowa before advancing into regional leadership. Her background includes management roles at major retailers such as Walmart, Blain’s Farm & Fleet, Steve & Barry’s, and Pilot Flying J, giving her a broad perspective on both large-scale and smaller-format retail operations. This diverse experience has shaped her ability to adapt strategies to different markets while maintaining consistent standards of service, profitability, and team development. Betty’s professional approach is rooted in people development, hands-on coaching, and thoughtful planning across people, product, promotions, and operations. She is CPR certified and has completed college coursework with studies at Scott Community College and the University of Iowa. Passionate about mentoring future leaders, Betty takes pride in developing talent from within and fostering collaborative teams that are prepared to succeed in a constantly evolving retail landscape.

I attribute my success to strong mentorship, being naturally good with people and product, and a family upbringing that instilled a strong work ethic, strong communication skills, and a deep commitment to customer service.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Seek out mentors and invest in your own development—both by learning from others and, over time, mentoring those around you. Build strong people skills and product knowledge and remember that leadership in retail is earned through experience, not an overnight decision.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in retail today is maintaining exceptional customer service as a true differentiator while investing in training and development to build the next generation of leaders.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are family, balance, and passion—making time for the people I love while pursuing the interests that energize me, from reading and dancing to my lifelong love of cars.
