Beyond her clinical work, Betty is widely recognized for her leadership and advocacy in professional education and workforce development in apheresis. She served in multiple roles within Carter BloodCare, including Apheresis Administration Assistant, and has held certifications and active involvement through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). I attribute my success to hard work and perseverance, along with a strong commitment to consistency and continuous improvement. Over time, I have learned that staying dedicated through challenges, maintaining a strong work ethic, and pushing forward even in difficult situations are what ultimately create meaningful growth and long-term achievement.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to lead with integrity, stay teachable, and always invest in your own development.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to women in the industry is to believe in your expertise, invest in continuous learning, and never hesitate to take up space in rooms where your voice matters.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in apheresis right now is the growing demand for highly skilled professionals, paired with a shortage of trained staff. At the same time, there is a tremendous opportunity to strengthen education, expand workforce development, and increase global collaboration to improve patient outcomes and advance the field.
