Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence, especially in navigating male-dominated engineering environments. I bring a natural curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning across disciplines, which allows me to stay adaptable in both startup and consulting settings. I also rely on a strong problem-solving mindset and systems-level thinking to tackle complex challenges effectively.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the engineering field is to persevere, even when you feel isolated or discouraged. Ask questions, take up space, and remember that you belong in engineering. Your determination and skills will always speak louder than stereotypes, so don’t let being the only woman in the room make you doubt yourself. Finally, strive to understand the system as a whole, not just your individual role, as this perspective will help you make a greater impact.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Currently, one of the biggest challenges in my field is the severe shortage of electrical engineers, coupled with the lack of female representation and mentorship. At the same time, there are significant opportunities: high demand allows for broad skill development, and it provides a unique chance to understand how engineering decisions impact entire systems. Additionally, the growing intersection between electrical and biomedical engineering opens exciting avenues for innovation and cross-disciplinary work.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me in both my work and personal life include advocating for and representing women in STEM, maintaining integrity and accountability in my engineering work, and committing to continuous growth and technical excellence. I also prioritize collaboration and mutual respect within teams, as I believe that strong, supportive relationships drive the best outcomes.
