About Bobbi

Bobbi Buxbaum is a seasoned right-of-way and land services professional with extensive experience in land acquisition, title research, easement negotiations, leasing, and property rights management. A graduate of Dickinson State University with honors and a certified Right of Way Specialist through the University of Houston-Downtown, Bobbi has built a reputation for combining technical expertise with strong communication and negotiation skills. Her work spans the energy, utility, agricultural, and oil industries, where she helps organizations navigate complex land transactions while fostering positive relationships with landowners and stakeholders.

Bobbi’s career began in public service, where she served as an elected county official and developed a deep understanding of legal land records, property ownership, and the documentation required for land acquisition and development. This foundation sparked her passion for the legal and operational aspects of land management and led her to specialize in right-of-way services. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with farmers, ranchers, government agencies, tribal entities, railroads, and private landowners to secure access agreements, easements, leases, and title clearances that support critical infrastructure and development projects.

Today, Bobbi serves as a Project Specialist with Basin Electric Power Cooperative while continuing to expand her impact in the land services industry. As the founder of Buxbaum Land & Business, she successfully led a team of land professionals providing more than 50 years of combined expertise in title abstracting, leasing, land acquisition, and right-of-way services. Raised on a ranch and grounded in agricultural values, Bobbi brings a practical, people-focused approach to her work. She is passionate about helping landowners and communities find solutions that create opportunity, preserve resources, and support long-term success for all parties involved.

Ten minutes with Bobbi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I was raised on the land, in the agricultural community, where everybody was tending to their land, managing their land, and had to make that resource work financially. Agriculture - the agriculture industry is a gamble. You never know when it's going to rain or snow, or be dry, and every day's a gamble. That's what piqued my interest in how hard the industry was, but how rewarding it was to be able to own your land, to learn how to manage it and how to grow and how to expand the industry, how to promote the industry and become successful. I think of the early explorers and how they used to measure the land in rods and chains, and how Lewis and Clark in their drills would speak of how they measured the land, and how the land is broken up in sections and townships and ranges, and they all have a little bit of altercations because the earth is round. All of that is very interesting to me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to not be afraid of leaping in with both feet in anything, really. You don't have to know everything about everything. You just have to have enough faith and confidence in yourself to know that you can accomplish what you're shooting for. I am kind of known for my leadership skills in encouraging others to be confident and to grow and to try new things. My leadership skill is to encourage others to not be afraid, to take a leap of faith, try new things, and keep going until you're successful. My biggest takeaway is don't ever be afraid to do something that you're not fully qualified or fully educated on. Learn as you go, take the lead, and keep growing, learning and experiencing. That's how I've kind of gotten to where I'm at now.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If you have an interest, develop that interest. Take one small step. You don't have to know everything about it, you just have to have a desire and an interest. Get into what makes you happy, what piques your interest, and pay attention to your surroundings, the people that you meet. Ask a lot of questions of the people that you meet, and anytime an opportunity comes up, do not be afraid to go for it. Wait for the next opportunity, and pretty soon you look back and you've got 25 years of experience and education, and you love it, because that's always been your interest. That's what piqued your desire to learn more.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities - I finally got to the position that I've always wanted to be, and that is in a large, powerful corporation that brings energy to rural communities. And I am finally in the leadership role to be able to continue that. That's a huge achievement for me. The opportunities are vast. The biggest challenge is keeping up to date with technology and staying educated on all the aspects of the land industry and the legal part of it. It's an ongoing education, which I really enjoy. I love learning about the industry that I am passionate about. And it's vast - from surveying the land, to the legal land records, to what each land record represents, and how it may or may not transfer an entire portion of the land, stewardship of the land, and how I can help other people in the agricultural industry to maintain and grow this industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I put God in front of everything. Integrity. Honesty, integrity, and God. Those are the values most important to me in my work and personal life.
