Her Story

About Bobbie

My journey into real estate started 21 years ago after we had the world's worst real estate agent. I sat down on my AOL computer and just asked the internet how to become a real estate agent, and 6 months later, I had my license. At first, I was only doing it for ourselves, then I started working with other investors, and then I started getting repeat clients coming back. Over the years, it turned into a career, and I got to probably selling an average of 5 to 8 a year. My husband said there's not time for you to work in oral surgery and to be a real estate agent, so I think you should do real estate full-time. I was hesitant because I went to school for oral surgery assisting and had a 401K, holidays, and vacation. But then my oral surgeon said my job was no longer 3 days a week but 5 days a week, so I decided to go full-time. I started doing it full-time 8 years ago, and I've been a top producer for the last 7 years. I love it, though it's crazy and I have to work harder and longer. I never saw myself running my own business and having a team, but it's been an amazing, crazy ride. My typical day is packed with 15 to 20 phone calls, at least 2 appointments with clients either showing properties or going to listing appointments, and constantly managing our warehouse full of staging materials. We converted our two-car detached garage into a really modern office where my assistant comes to work, and without her, I could not do this. We take the burden off our clients by organizing with contractors, checking on paint jobs, and connecting all the dots to make sure everything is running smoothly so our clients feel like it's an amazing experience.

01What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Time management is very hard because sometimes one phone call can turn into three phone calls when someone's not doing what they need to do. In our industry right now, there's a lot of real estate agents who are not full-time, so it's constantly waiting for them to get the documentation to us or having them manage their side of the transaction as well, and that's very hard. The market is always changing, so we're always trying to pivot and adjust how we do our business to make sure that we're staying on top of the market and being mindful of how the economy is affecting the market and how the interest rates are affecting the market. We're always making sure that we're advising our clients to the best of our ability, but it's always a moving target, and that's very hard.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

On our team, I always say, as long as we do not lie, steal, or cheat each other or our clients, every other problem we can work out. My core values would be truly giving our clients the experience that we would expect for ourselves and just making sure that we're always being trustworthy and being valuable assets to them, working for them, and making our clients feel like we're providing a good service to them.
