Her Story

About Brehan

At this point in my career, I would say creative direction and art direction is where I'm focusing. My overall experience and dabbling in different arenas has led me to this point where I just want to be more of the idea generator and less of the executor. I'm a creative, design, leadership, and art direction expert. On a typical day, I'm either preparing for photo shoots, which involves curating the wardrobe and accessories and preparing them for a pre-shoot, then managing them and making sure everything and everyone looks their best during the shoot, and handling all the logistics and organization of returning everything after. I work with creative teams to come up with the visual overall wardrobe and styling direction. When I'm doing art direction, I'm determining what the overall look of the set and the shoot will be, the lighting, photographer, sometimes having input on the team and styling, just the overall art look of everything and what the message will be, and often the typography or any wording or messaging that's involved. Any typical day is either preparing or working on a shoot with long hours on set and long hours offset preparing.

Ten minutes with Brehan

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would say just my dedication and being very dedicated to working hard and making sure that I always do the best job that I can possibly do. And as we discussed before, just always trying to make sure to respect people and work well with others so that they want to work with you. I think that's really important. So yeah, I would say just being respectful of other people and just relying on really being talented and hardworking, pretty simply.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I would say just to always be a kind person, to remain humble, no matter what kind of level you achieve, and just that people really remember how you make them feel versus the nuances of the interaction that you have with them. It's really just about overall how you make them feel, and to always keep that in mind, especially during stressful situations. That's been really helpful advice for me.
