Ten minutes with Brenna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to tenacity, persistence, resourcefulness, and a commitment to finding solutions. My diverse experiences in healthcare, advocacy, caregiving, and entrepreneurship have taught me to adapt, learn through experience, and keep moving forward even without a clear roadmap. I have built my career by embracing challenges, continually educating myself, and turning difficult circumstances into opportunities to grow and help others.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is to question limitations, do the research, advocate for what matters, and never give up when the first answer is discouraging. I’ve learned to trust persistence, stay open to learning, and recognize that setbacks can reveal new opportunities. Sometimes, the best path is the one you create for yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering my industry to value their lived experiences, including the difficult ones. Ask questions, do your research, advocate for yourself and others, and never stop learning. Don’t let the absence of a mentor prevent you from moving forward—create your own path, lead with empathy, and pair compassion with courage and persistence.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is helping people and organizations navigate complex systems while ensuring that those who feel unseen are heard and supported. I also see significant opportunities in change and growth, which allow me to expand my reach, build new relationships, and bring strategic expertise and human-centered leadership to more people and organizations.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are empathy, compassion, advocacy, tenacity, and persistence. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard and supported, whether they are facing personal challenges, navigating healthcare, or leading a business through change. For me, meaningful success is about using my experiences to create opportunities, provide support, and bring hope to others.
