Breya Parris, MPH
Breya Parris, MPH, is a dedicated public health consultant and health education specialist with a career focused on patient advocacy, community outreach, and translating complex clinical information into actionable education. She currently works with The Public Health Consulting Group, supporting emergency preparedness, program development, and health education initiatives for patients, schools, faith-based organizations, and community groups. Breya is committed to improving patient experiences by empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed health decisions.
Breya began her professional journey in healthcare as a dialysis technician at DaVita Kidney Care, where she worked for over six years. Her close connection to patients and firsthand experience with kidney disease inspired her to pursue a career in public health. She transitioned into health education and consulting, leveraging her background to develop programs focused on chronic disease management, diabetes, kidney health, and broader public health issues. Her approach emphasizes accessibility, engagement, and the human side of healthcare, ensuring that education is both meaningful and actionable.
Breya holds a Bachelor of Science in Public and Community Health with a pre-med emphasis from Ithaca College and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Chamberlain University. Alongside her professional work, she volunteers as a Music Director at Irvington Assemblies of God, reflecting her commitment to community and service. Throughout her career, Breya has demonstrated a passion for helping others, blending clinical experience, public health expertise, and educational outreach to create a lasting impact in the communities she serves.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my passion for healthcare—starting as a dialysis technician, I found fulfillment supporting patients, which inspired me to pursue a Master’s in Public Health so I could advocate for and help others on a broader scale.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is that I can build a healthcare career where I make a meaningful impact on others while finding a true sense of purpose, which I consider the greatest achievement.

My advice to young women entering healthcare is that you can build a career full of meaning and purpose, which will bring you immense joy.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in healthcare is that the field is constantly evolving to better serve patients, requiring continuous learning and adaptation. At the same time, there is a significant need to help people understand and improve their overall health, creating opportunities for meaningful impact.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work are compassion, advocacy, and making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives, especially when healthcare teams are overwhelmed and need support. Personally, I prioritize balance, taking time to be outdoors, read, and bake, which helps me recharge so I can continue giving my best to others. Being able to care for myself allows me to care for others with intention and joy.
