Brianna Hunt, MHA, SHRM-CP, is a People Operations Senior Recruiter at Devereux New Jersey, where she specializes in recruiting professionals within the behavioral health sector. Based in the Greater Philadelphia area, she has been working in behavioral health recruitment since 2019, helping organizations build strong, mission-driven teams that support individuals with developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs. With nearly a decade of experience in talent acquisition and workforce development, Brianna is passionate about connecting purpose-driven professionals with meaningful careers that create lasting impact in their communities.

Brianna’s career in recruiting began in 2016 at BAYADA Home Health Care through the organization’s leadership development program, where she gained hands-on exposure to both recruiting and client services. The program allowed her to split her time between working alongside recruiters and client service managers, giving her a well-rounded perspective on healthcare staffing. After completing the program, she initially stepped into a client services manager role supporting home care clients and recruiting nurses for staffing cases. However, colleagues quickly recognized her natural strengths in talent acquisition. In a smaller office environment, she continued to take on recruiting responsibilities alongside client services management, further strengthening her expertise in identifying and attracting top healthcare talent.

Prior to her current role, Brianna also gained valuable experience in healthcare operations and community relations through positions with organizations such as Advantage Therapy and Sleep Centers, Azura Memory Care / Azura Living, and Bancroft. She holds both a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Health Services from Saint Joseph's University, and is a SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). In addition to her corporate career, Brianna is also the founder of Career Hunt Group, an initiative dedicated to mentorship, workforce development, and helping emerging professionals navigate the evolving job market with intention and confidence.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would say my family, especially my mom's side, which is just full of powerful women. My mom is a valedictorian, her sister's valedictorian, salutatorian - they're just very high-achieving women, and that's just kind of what our legacy is and what's kind of demanded. I feel like I kind of came out of the room just expecting to be high-achieving, and I've always had that drive, and then have had that support to do so, because that's what they are. Same thing with my dad's family. I feel like I've always had a tight-knit community around me that's always been in my corner. For maternal mental health, it really does take a village for me to have all these babies. My mom is at my house all the time, my aunts are over all the time. My dad's job is literally right in the backyard of my house, and he's a truck driver, so when he comes in and out of loads, he comes and sees them and plays with them. That really does help with the load.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say stay open, keep persevering. Don't be discouraged. It's okay to be the only woman in the room. Sometimes that can be discouraging, but don't put your own life plans on hold. I myself have 4 children who are very little, and I still would consider myself very successful career-wise. I also have members of my family who do the same thing. One of my greatest aspirations is my aunt, who's an OBGYN and has 5 children, and she did that all during medical school. I think we as women are very powerful and capable beings. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves of that - that it is hard and it is challenging, but we can do it all. Sometimes it may look different. Sometimes you have to take a pause, sometimes you have to take a maternity leave, but you can still get it all done. Just your time frame may look different, because your dreams may look a little bit different. Sometimes you have to take a break to make a baby, and that's okay and important, and those things still matter. What we bring to a boardroom and what we bring to a workspace still matters greatly. The diversity and the intellect that we bring to a board meeting or a commercial office is really impactful, and you can see the difference when a woman's in the room.
