Her Story
About Brittnei
Brittnei Farmer is an author and motivational speaker who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2012. She began her professional career as a Child and Family Case Manager, dedicating four years to supporting children and families navigating mental health challenges and complex life circumstances. During this time, she was also building a meaningful personal life that was profoundly impacted by the sudden loss of her boyfriend to a massive heart attack an unexpected tragedy that led to a period of deep grief and emotional struggle. Following this loss, Brittnei experienced a significant mental health crisis that ultimately resulted in incarceration related to a suicide attempt and bank robbery charges. She served a three-year sentence, during which she embarked on a transformative journey of self-reflection, healing, and spiritual renewal. While incarcerated, she founded a ministry, maintained employment, and developed the discipline to begin writing her life story. In this season of adversity, she processed grief, trauma, and personal hardship while reconnecting with her faith and rediscovering her sense of purpose. After her release, Brittnei continued her writing journey and published her memoir, God Is Keeping Me, in April 2025, sharing a powerful testimony of resilience, redemption, and faith. Since then, she has grown into a motivational speaker, using her lived experience to inspire hope and healing in others, including individuals currently incarcerated. She has been featured in media outlets and invited to speak at various events, including correctional facilities, where she encourages women who are still serving time. Brittnei is also an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Saucier, Mississippi. In her personal life, she enjoys writing poetry, spending time with family especially her nieces and engaging in activities such as traveling, bowling, shopping, and exploring new experiences.

Ten minutes with Brittnei
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God’s grace and the steadfast prayers of my parents, which have grounded me with purpose, resilience, and direction throughout my journey. Their faith and support have provided a strong foundation that has helped me remain focused, navigate challenges with perseverance, and stay committed to growth and integrity in both my personal and professional life.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to first and foremost trust God and stay grounded in their faith as they pursue their goals. It is important to set clear intentions and remain focused on what you want to achieve, while also being intentional about the people you surround yourself with. Choose your friends and support system wisely those who align with your values, encourage your growth, and genuinely support your vision. Stay true to yourself, avoid the pressure to conform to others, and remain focused on your path, even when distractions or outside influences arise. Consistency, authenticity, and discipline will carry you further than trying to fit in.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’m currently facing in my field is finding the motivation and momentum to begin my second book, which focuses on a deeply personal and challenging chapter of my life. Although I’ve started the writing process, I’ve struggled to maintain consistency and follow through, as it requires revisiting difficult memories and emotions. At the same time, I see this as a meaningful opportunity for growth, both personally and professionally, because sharing this story has the potential to inspire and help others who have faced similar struggles. The challenge is pushing past hesitation and creative blocks, while the opportunity lies in transforming lived experience into a powerful message of resilience and healing.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values in my work and personal life are keeping God first and honoring Him in everything I do, as my faith is the foundation that guides my decisions and direction. I also prioritize staying focused and disciplined, especially when pursuing my goals and responsibilities. In addition, I strive to remain mindful and grateful for how far I’ve come, allowing that awareness to keep me grounded, motivated, and intentional about continuing to grow and move forward with purpose.
