Her Interview

Ten minutes with Camisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my determination, drive, and the strong support system that has surrounded me throughout my journey. Becoming a mother at a young age motivated me to work hard, create opportunities for myself, and build a meaningful professional future rather than allowing my circumstances to define me. I am deeply grateful for the village of family, friends, and colleagues who have supported and encouraged me from the beginning, as their guidance and belief in me gave me the confidence and opportunity to pursue my professional goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to always network and understand the true art of building meaningful relationships. I believe in taking the time to speak with people, get to know them, and genuinely listen to their stories and experiences. Networking should not be focused solely on what someone can do for you; instead, I approach each connection by considering how I can be of service and provide value to others. By building authentic, mutually supportive relationships, I have found that opportunities and other positive outcomes often naturally fall into place.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to recognize the importance of building meaningful connections and developing the professional skills that will support long-term success. While there can sometimes be a generational gap in how we communicate and support one another, I believe the younger generation brings tremendous talent and potential that is often untapped. I would encourage them to think intentionally about where they want their lives and careers to be five or ten years from now and identify the education, experiences, internships, externships, and relationships that can help them reach those goals. I also believe in the importance of mentorship and would love to continue giving back by connecting emerging professionals with people and opportunities that can help them grow. Beyond technical expertise, learning strong soft skills—such as the art of networking, engaging in genuine conversations, listening, and taking a sincere interest in others—is essential to building a successful and fulfilling career.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity and loyalty are among the most important values in both my professional and personal life. I take great pride in the work I produce because my name and reputation are attached to everything I do, and I believe in consistently showing up with honesty, accountability, and a commitment to excellence. I also value being of service to others and building genuine relationships that extend beyond professional interactions. Taking the time to understand what motivates people, learning about their lives and families, and recognizing where I may be able to offer support allows me to connect with others on a deeper level and make a meaningful difference whenever possible.
