Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to coping and grieving for so long, mourning over hardships and loss of friends, coming back to my hometown, and everything with COVID - the coronation of COVID, the plague. But most of all, it's my son. Wanting to really take off into this industry and being there for my son is what made me the independent artist that I am today.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

If you never know your family's heritage, you'll never know your future. Always expect the unexpected.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Give it all you have. Don't hold back anything. Don't lack inspiration, don't lack aspirations at all. When you come in, inspire as much as you can, be creative, don't hold back anything, give it all you have.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now are advertising and maintaining my business, along with unexpected bills, especially hospital bills from the health issues I'm going through. I'm also really scared of being scammed. There are a lot of electronics and online contracts, but I'm really old school - I have to look you in the eye before we sign a contract. I have to go over it and have an entertainment lawyer review it, shake your hand, and look at you in your eyes to make sure you're the person and that your product is legit.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

God and family first. Time management and organization are also critical to me, especially when I'm working 8 to 16 hour days.
