Charlotte Jones is an accomplished sports official and Geographic Information Science (GIS) professional based in Indianapolis, Indiana. With over 26 years of experience as an independent contractor, she has dedicated herself to mentoring and officiating in multiple sports, including soccer, basketball, track and field, and futsal. Currently, she serves as a USSF Soccer Mentor, providing guidance and technical feedback to grassroots referees during youth tournaments, while also officiating for NFHS basketball and IPS futsal leagues.
In addition to her work in athletics, Charlotte has a strong background in environmental and archaeological GIS. She has contributed to projects for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Martin University, creating detailed maps for wetlands and archaeological sites using ArcGIS. Her academic achievements include a B.A. in Geography, an undergraduate certificate in Geographic Information Science, and a second B.A. in Archaeology, Latin, and Visualization from Indiana University Indianapolis. Charlotte also has professional proficiency in Ancient Latin, demonstrating her diverse interests and dedication to learning.
Throughout her career, Charlotte has been recognized for her leadership and excellence. She was inducted into Marquis Who’s Who in America in 2023 and received the High Honor for Academic Excellence Award from Indiana University in 2004. Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional work, exemplified by her volunteer efforts with Timmy Global Health, helping build homes for families in developing countries. Charlotte’s unique combination of technical expertise, athletic mentorship, and community service highlights her as a multifaceted professional making an impact both locally and beyond.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my lifelong love of soccer, my dedication to refereeing since finishing college, and my commitment to making sure players and parents have a positive experience. My three degrees from Indiana University have also given me a strong foundation to support everything I do.
