Her Story
About Christina-Rae
Christina-Rae Kingston is an independent music artist, songwriter, producer, and creative entrepreneur whose work is rooted in emotional honesty, resilience, and transformation. Based in Michigan, she is the founder of Haus of Echolust, the creative home for a rapidly growing catalog of original music that gives voice to experiences and emotions that are often difficult to articulate.
Within her first year as a recording artist, Christina-Rae created and released an extraordinary body of work—approximately 400 songs—while teaching herself the technical and creative aspects of music production. She writes, produces, and performs her own material, drawing inspiration from personal experience and a deep understanding of the ways people process pain, change, identity, and healing. Among her notable works is “Static in My Chest", "Look at Me Bleed" and "Hole In My Soul", songs that reflect the emotionally driven storytelling at the heart of her music.
Before entering the music industry, Christina-Rae spent 14 years coaching others centered on trauma and childhood abuse recovery. That experience continues to influence her creative philosophy: she believes that art can reach people in places ordinary conversation sometimes cannot.
Her commitment to creating meaningful spaces extends beyond music. Christina-Rae is also developing Haus of the Unmasked, a private digital sanctuary envisioned as a supportive community where people can connect with greater honesty and without the pressure to perform or pretend.
A member of BMI, The MLC, and SoundExchange, Christina-Rae is continuing to expand her catalog and explore opportunities in sync licensing and other areas of the music industry while building her ventures independently and intentionally.
At the center of everything she creates is a philosophy shaped by her own life: difficult beginnings do not have to determine what comes next. Christina-Rae credits grit, persistence, integrity, and an unwillingness to give up with carrying her forward—and she brings those same values to her music, her businesses, and the communities she hopes to build.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Christina-Rae
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to sheer grit and willpower. I came from an extraordinarily difficult childhood, but I made a conscious decision that where I came from would never define who I am or determine where I could go. My past is part of my story, but it is not my identity. I have learned to turn adversity into determination, pain into purpose, and obstacles into reasons to keep moving forward. More than anything, my success comes from an unwavering refusal to let my beginnings dictate my ending.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t wait until you feel completely ready, because you may never feel ready. Start with what you have, learn what you don’t know, and figure out the next step as you go. Some of the most meaningful things I’ve built began before I had any idea how I was going to accomplish them. I’ve learned that you don’t need to see the entire path, you just need enough courage to take the next step.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don’t let other people’s opinions become limits you place on yourself. The moment you begin pursuing something meaningful, there will always be people who question you, underestimate you, or try to convince you that you can’t do it. Keep going anyway.
Protect your vision, trust your instincts, and remember that you do not need everyone to understand what you are building. Learn everything you can, stay true to who you are, and never make yourself smaller simply to make someone else more comfortable with your ambition. Your job isn’t to convince everyone that you’re capable. Your job is to keep building until what you’ve created speaks for itself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in music right now is sync licensing, placing music in television, film, streaming productions, advertising, and other forms of media. For independent artists, it creates exciting possibilities for our music to reach entirely new audiences and become part of stories beyond our own.
One of the biggest challenges, however, is learning to distinguish a genuine opportunity from something that simply presents itself as one. The music industry can be difficult to navigate, particularly for independent artists, and not everyone offering an opportunity necessarily has the artist’s best interests in mind. I believe it’s important to stay informed, ask questions, protect your work, and trust your instincts. Ambition can open doors, but discernment helps you recognize which ones are actually worth walking through.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity and respect are non-negotiable for me. I believe every person deserves to be treated with the same dignity, regardless of their title, position, background, or what they do for a living. I don’t believe someone’s status determines the amount of respect they deserve.
Whether I’m speaking with the person running the company or the person maintaining the building, I’m going to treat them with the same kindness and respect. Character matters far more to me than status ever will. I carry that principle into every relationship, collaboration, and interaction—both personally and professionally.
