About Christina
Christina Swigel is a pharmacy technician and self-published author who has built a career that combines her passion for healthcare with her love of creative writing. Based in the Bronx, New York, she has worked as a pharmacy technician for the past two years, collaborating with pharmacists to prepare prescriptions, maintain efficient pharmacy operations, and provide quality customer service. Before entering the pharmacy field, she worked as a medical secretary in urgent care medicine, gaining valuable experience in healthcare administration and patient support. Her professional approach is rooted in perseverance, continuous learning, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Alongside her healthcare career, Swigel has devoted the past eight years to writing poetry and short stories. She began as a freelance writer in her twenties before fulfilling a longtime goal of becoming a published author. In April 2024, she released her first self-published poetry collection through Archway Publishing, with distribution on major bookselling platforms including Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Encouraged by the positive reception to her debut work, she is currently preparing a second poetry collection for release in late summer or early fall of 2026. Her educational background in liberal arts, with an emphasis on writing, English, and languages, helped lay the foundation for her literary pursuits.
Swigel credits much of her success to the inspiration she has drawn from experienced pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and fellow authors, whose dedication has motivated her own professional growth. She believes that focusing on one task at a time and remaining committed through challenges are essential to long-term success, advice she readily shares with others entering her fields. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue expanding her writing career while pursuing future studies in dental hygiene. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, listening to music, and hiking, finding balance between her professional responsibilities and creative passions.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the inspiration I have drawn from the pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and authors I have admired throughout my career. Their dedication, expertise, and passion for the profession motivated me to continue learning, growing, and pursuing my own goals.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to focus on one job or task at a time and give it my full attention. I have found that maintaining focus improves both the quality of my work and my overall effectiveness.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to never give up, regardless of the challenges they may encounter. Stay persistent, continue learning, and keep moving forward because determination and resilience are essential to achieving long-term success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field is managing the demands of multitasking while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. At the same time, one of the greatest opportunities in my career came when a publishing company contacted me about my book, which encouraged me to continue writing, and I look forward to self-publishing my second book by the end of 2026.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The value that is most important to me in both my work and personal life is maintaining a healthy work-life balance. I believe that taking care of both my professional responsibilities and my personal well-being allows me to perform at my best and sustain long-term success.

I would like to begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to the women who helped make my feature in Influential Women magazine possible.
Throughout my experience working with them, I gained not only a deep respect for the other women who have been featured but also a greater appreciation for the remarkable women across the United States who work tirelessly each day to pursue their goals and make a meaningful impact.
As I reflect on my own journey, I recognize that my career has been shaped not only by passion but also by dedication, perseverance, and the support of others. In writing this article, I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who has influenced my professional path and helped me become the person I am today.
My mentors, supervisors, and employers have all played an important role in shaping me into the dedicated professional I am today. Their guidance also encouraged me to pursue another lifelong passion—writing. I have always loved the arts and storytelling, and that passion inspired my dream of one day publishing my own book. I am incredibly grateful that this dream became a reality this year, and I am deeply honored by that accomplishment.
If I could offer advice to my younger self—or to any woman pursuing her dreams—it would be this: never give up, and never stop believing in yourself. Wake up each day with a positive mindset and set realistic, meaningful goals. By taking intentional steps every day, you will continue moving closer to the future you envision for yourself.
Those daily habits become the foundation that shapes the woman you aspire to become. Before you know it, the dreams that once felt distant may become your reality.
Most importantly, stay true to yourself. When you live with authenticity, determination, and integrity, life has a remarkable way of opening doors and rewarding your efforts in unexpected and uplifting ways.
