Her Story

About Cindy

Cynthia Greer is the Founder and Owner of Transition With Care, a respected senior move management firm serving older adults and their families throughout the Charlotte, North Carolina, area. With 17 years of experience in senior move management, Greer leads a team of 18 employees and oversees the company’s daily operations, ensuring that every client receives personalized, compassionate, and highly organized support throughout the moving process. As a Certified Senior Move Manager and Certified Dementia Practitioner, she specializes in helping older adults navigate downsizing, decluttering, relocation, and other later-in-life transitions. Her approach combines practical expertise with empathy, recognizing that moving to a smaller home or retirement community often involves significant emotional and physical challenges. Greer’s passion for this work was shaped in part by her own experiences helping family members through retirement transitions, giving her a personal understanding of the importance of patience, compassion, and thoughtful guidance during times of change. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of South Carolina and an associate’s degree in Interior Design, an educational background that complements her ability to help clients create comfortable, functional, and personalized living environments.

Before founding Transition With Care, Greer built a diverse professional background in senior services, marketing, community relations, and design. She previously served as Director of Marketing for a home care company and a retirement community, where she developed strong relationships with families, healthcare professionals, senior living communities, and community organizations. These experiences provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the needs of older adults and their families and ultimately led her to recognize the growing need for specialized support during senior relocations. Under her leadership, Transition With Care has grown into an A+ accredited senior move management firm through the National Association of Senior & Specialty Move Managers, reflecting her commitment to professional excellence, ethical business practices, and high-quality client service. In recognition of her leadership within the profession, Greer was elected to serve on the NASMM Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term. She is also a member of the Charlotte Estate Planning Association and has been recognized for her contributions to the community, including being named to the Charlotte Ledger’s 40 Over 40 list in 2024.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Greer is deeply committed to community service and supporting organizations that serve older adults, families, and individuals facing life-changing circumstances. She supports the Alzheimer’s Association, Jewish Family Services, and the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas, among other community initiatives. She attributes her success to surrounding herself with dedicated professionals who care deeply about their work and clients, while allowing her company to grow organically through strong relationships, consistent service, and a shared commitment to excellence. Integrity, honesty, and compassion are central to the way she approaches both her professional and personal life. Through Transition With Care, Greer continues to make a meaningful difference by helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of downsizing and relocation with dignity, confidence, and peace of mind, enabling them to focus less on the stress of the transition and more on the opportunities that await them in the next chapter of life.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cindy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to surrounding myself with talented, dedicated people who care deeply about the work we do and are genuinely committed to serving our clients. Building a strong team of individuals who share my passion and values has been instrumental to our success, and our growth has developed organically through the strength of our relationships, the quality of our work, and our shared commitment to excellence.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to stick with it, never give up, and not allow challenges or setbacks to discourage me. I have learned to view challenges as opportunities for growth, learning, and improvement, and to remain persistent even when the path forward is difficult.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to recognize the meaningful impact you can have on people’s lives. Helping someone who feels overwhelmed navigate the process of downsizing and transitioning to a smaller home can be incredibly rewarding. There is tremendous value in providing guidance, compassion, and support during what can be a significant life transition, and knowing that you are helping someone begin that journey with greater confidence and peace of mind is deeply fulfilling.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The opportunities in my field are truly endless because there is such a significant need for the services we provide. Many individuals and families need support as they navigate downsizing, moving, and other later-in-life transitions, yet they may not be aware that professional assistance is available. One of the greatest challenges is increasing awareness and helping families understand that they do not have to navigate these often overwhelming transitions alone. By educating people about the resources and services available, we have an opportunity to provide meaningful support and make a lasting difference in the lives of those facing major life changes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, honesty, and compassion are the values that guide me most in both my professional and personal life. I believe in conducting myself with integrity, being honest and transparent in my interactions, and approaching others with compassion and understanding. These values shape the way I build relationships, support others, and navigate both my work and everyday life.
