Claudia Chapa

Claudia Chapa has been an opera singer for over 10 years and an administrator for 4 years. She currently works with Austin Opera as a curator for Spanish language and Hispanic programming, with a specialty in scouting Latin talent. Chapa is a member of the Sphinx organization and leads the Latin Opera Alliance. She developed a program with Austin Opera to support underprivileged children interested in pursuing opera careers. Her professional journey began after being inspired by attending an opera performance as a child from Laredo, Texas, leading her to train as a singer, perform with companies in Texas and at Carnegie Hall, and later transition into administration to promote Spanish language music and support emerging Latin artists.
