Her Interview
Ten minutes with Claudia
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the little girl I once was, who always dreamed of going to school, pursuing her goals, and believing that anything was possible. Her determination, resilience, and willingness to dream big laid the foundation for who I am today. If I could look back and speak to her, I would simply say, "I am so proud of you."
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was simple but powerful: Don’t take things personally.
Throughout my career, working alongside diverse teams, physicians, executives, and multidisciplinary leaders has taught me that people’s reactions are often shaped by competing priorities, pressures, and challenges rather than personal intent.
Learning to separate the situation from the emotion has helped me maintain perspective, approach challenges with professionalism, and focus on solutions rather than reactions. It has also reinforced the importance of listening, building trust, and leading with understanding.
I’ve learned that effective leadership isn’t about reacting to every situation; it’s about knowing how to respond with intention, grace, and professionalism.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering healthcare is to stay curious, remain adaptable, and embrace change. Healthcare is constantly evolving, and the willingness to learn and grow will serve you throughout your career. Maintain a positive attitude, even on the most challenging days, and never underestimate the impact of kindness and a smile. Remember that most people enter healthcare because they want to make a difference in the lives of others. When you approach challenges with empathy, optimism, and a collaborative mindset, you'll be better equipped to build strong relationships, navigate change, and create meaningful impact for the patients and communities you serve
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in healthcare today is embracing innovation while keeping the human connection at the center of what we do. Personally, I've seen how technology, including AI, can help us work smarter and improve the patient experience. At the same time, one of our greatest challenges is leading through constant change and bringing together teams with different generations, perspectives, and experiences. For me, success comes from staying adaptable, continuing to learn, and always focusing on the people we serve.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most are kindness, integrity, and gratitude. I believe in working hard, treating everyone with respect, and finding the positive in every situation. Healthcare can be challenging, but I try to lead with empathy and remember that everyone is doing their best. Personally and professionally, I value building strong relationships, helping others succeed, and never losing sight of why we do this work: to make a difference in people's lives.
