Her Story

About Codi

Codi Saad serves as a Manager of Scrum Masters in the IT industry, where she has built a successful career over the past 12 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in History from Michigan State University and began her professional journey as a professor at Jackson Community College, initially intending to remain in academia. While moonlighting in IT roles that leveraged her strong communication skills, Codi discovered a passion for people management, process improvement, and building effective systems. This realization led her to make a full transition into the IT industry, where she has grown from a nontraditional background through hands-on experience, continuous learning, and determination.

Today, Codi is a respected Agile Delivery Leader and servant leader who manages teams, mentors professionals, and helps organizations improve collaboration, processes, and delivery outcomes. Her career has been shaped by a commitment to aligning people, processes, and purpose while fostering environments built on trust, feedback, and continuous improvement. She has earned numerous professional certifications, including Certified Scrum Professional, Advanced Certified ScrumMaster, Certified ScrumMaster, Certified Agile Leadership, Certified Agile Scaling, and AI for Scrum Masters. Through her leadership, she continues to develop people, strengthen teams, and help organizations navigate the evolving intersection of Agile practices, technology, and artificial intelligence.

Codi is a member of the Scrum Alliance and Women in Agile and is committed to supporting greater diversity and inclusion in the technology industry. She contributes resources and donations to Black Girls CODE to help support women of color pursuing opportunities in STEM. Her approach to leadership is grounded in service, which she views as both a professional mission and a personal calling. Whether managing teams, mentoring emerging leaders, or helping organizations evolve, Codi is passionate about empowering others, creating opportunities for growth, and building systems that enable people and teams to thrive.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to take the time to ask questions and remain curious when joining a new team. Before making changes, it is important to understand the company’s history, culture, processes, and how everything came together. I have also learned the value of being a servant leader by listening first, learning from others, and focusing on how I can support my team and contribute to its success.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering my industry is to remain open-minded and flexible. Career paths do not always unfold as planned, and new opportunities can often emerge when you are willing to step outside your comfort zone, explore new possibilities, and embrace change. Being open to trying new things can lead to valuable experiences and opportunities you may not have initially considered.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now involve navigating gender dynamics and effectively integrating artificial intelligence into team processes. While gender-related challenges continue to shape workplace experiences and opportunities, AI also presents significant potential to improve efficiency, collaboration, and decision-making. The key is learning how to leverage these technologies thoughtfully while maintaining strong human connection, inclusive leadership, and effective teamwork.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The value that is most important to me in both my work and personal life is service. I always remind myself that I am here to serve others, and I view that as both my mission and my calling. Whether serving as a manager in IT or previously as a professor, I have consistently embraced the principles of servant leadership by supporting others, helping them grow, and focusing on how I can make a meaningful difference in their lives and work.
