Corinne Christian
Corinne Christian is the Director of Outreach & Community Engagement at Fighting Pretty, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women battling cancer feel strong, beautiful, and supported throughout treatment and recovery. Based in Evansville, Indiana, she plays a key leadership role in expanding the organization’s outreach efforts, strengthening community partnerships, and advancing programs that deliver encouragement and practical support to women facing cancer.
With nearly a decade of experience at Fighting Pretty, Corinne has grown through multiple roles, including Event & Communications Coordinator and Director of Events & Outreach, before stepping into her current leadership position. She has helped scale the organization’s impact to tens of thousands of women across the United States and internationally through initiatives such as Strength and Beauty Kits, Pretty Packages, and virtual support communities. She also plays a central role in coordinating volunteer engagement, fundraising efforts, and partnerships with hospitals, corporations, and community organizations.
A graduate of Northwestern College with a background in Theatre and English Literature, Corinne brings a strong foundation in storytelling, communication, and empathy to her work. Her leadership is rooted in compassion, faith, and a commitment to ensuring no woman faces cancer alone. She is especially passionate about mentoring student ambassador teams across college campuses, helping cultivate the next generation of leaders dedicated to service, advocacy, and community impact.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith and the foundation it has given me in valuing every person’s inherent worth and purpose. I am committed to ensuring others know they are loved, they matter, and they have meaning. Raised in a family of ministry—my father is a pastor and my parents have worked for nearly 40 years with Native American communities—and now sharing life with my husband, who is also a pastor, my worldview is deeply rooted in service, compassion, and the belief that this sense of purpose is what guides and sustains my work.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is simple: just ask. Whether it’s requesting a job shadow, seeking an advocate in a room you’re not in, or testing an idea you’re unsure about—ask. Even if the answer is no, it isn’t the end; it’s just information you can build from and try again the next day. In nonprofit work, especially in fundraising and program support, I’ve learned that making the ask is essential—sometimes it leads to a no, but other times it opens the door to a yes or a much bigger conversation. Even in day-to-day teamwork, I’ve found that asking clarifying questions instead of assuming helps prevent confusion and unnecessary conflict, keeping collaboration clear and productive.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field include the constant need to fundraise and secure sustainable funding to support nonprofit programs and events, which requires ongoing effort and adaptability. Another significant challenge is addressing misinformation online while also helping fill gaps in emotional and mental health resources for individuals and families navigating cancer, where accurate and compassionate support is critical. At the same time, there are strong opportunities in expanding and mentoring student-led ambassador programs, which can grow community awareness, engagement, and support in meaningful and scalable ways.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, compassion, and a deep commitment to reinforcing the worth of every individual. I strive to ensure that each person I encounter feels seen, valued, and understood, and that they are reminded of their inherent importance and dignity.
