Curtisha Shepherd: Hi, I am Curtisha Shepherd. To me, being an influential woman is not defined by awards, titles, or recognition. It is measured by the lives I touch and the hope I help restore. True influence is choosing to serve with compassion. Lead with integrity and create opportunities that empower others to rise above their circumstances. For nearly two decades in nursing, I have dedicated my life to caring for others, but my purpose extends far beyond my profession. As a mentor, advocate, and founder, I am committed to encouraging young women, strengthening mothers, and building healthier families and communities. I believe that when we invest in people, especially our youth and the women raising the next generation, we create lasting change that reaches far beyond ourselves. My greatest accomplishment is knowing that someone feels seen, valued, encouraged, or inspired because our paths crossed. I want my life to be a reflection of service, resilience, compassion, and faith, showing others that no matter where they begin, they have the strength to overcome obstacles, discover their purpose, and become a light for someone else. That, to me, is the true meaning of being an influential woman.

What's one piece of advice you would give to younger women chasing their dreams?

Curtisha Shepherd: Never allow fears, setbacks, or someone else's opinion to define your future. Your journey will not always be easy, and there will be moments when you question yourself, but don't give up. Every challenge you face is preparing you for the woman you are becoming. Believe in your purpose, stay true to your values, and never stop investing in yourself. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small, and remember that success is not about competing with others. It's about becoming the best version of yourself while lifting others along the way. When you lead with compassion, resilience and integrity, your dreams become more than personal. Achievements, they become an inspiration for the next generation of women to believe in what's possible.

Ten minutes with Curtisha

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, resilience, and the support of my family and community. My journey has not always been easy, but every challenge has strengthened my determination and shaped me into the person I am today.

I also credit my passion for serving others and my commitment to growth and education. Being able to care for, mentor, and encourage others gives me purpose and keeps me grounded in what truly matters.

Most importantly, I believe success is rooted in consistency, perseverance, and staying true to your values even when life becomes difficult.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to stay consistent, remain humble, and never stop learning. I was also taught that your character and work ethic will open more doors than titles ever will, so always lead with integrity and purpose.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this field to stay focused, be patient with your growth, and never underestimate the value of compassion and consistency. Always continue learning, ask questions, and take pride in the care and service you provide. Most importantly, believe in yourself even when the journey gets challenging, because your purpose will carry you through.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is addressing the growing need for accessible, compassionate care while also navigating limited resources and increasing demands on healthcare professionals. It requires patience, adaptability, and a strong commitment to quality care.

At the same time, there are incredible opportunities for growth in mentorship, community outreach, and preventive support. I believe the field is expanding toward more holistic, patient-centered care, which creates space to make a deeper impact on individuals and families beyond the clinical setting.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are faith, integrity, compassion, and respect. I believe in treating everyone with dignity and leading with kindness in everything I do.

I also value consistency, growth, and service—always striving to improve myself while making a positive impact on others. These values guide both my career and the way I show up for my family and community.
