Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I can contribute it to the team that I am with. I think that I'm grateful for them in that they give me the room to be myself. And, you know, it's not easy to be a part of such a heavy-hitting team, they might not necessarily listen to staff, not all the time, but my team is a good team. I've been with them for 12 years, so obviously, you know, we love each other in some way, shape, or form. But I believe that believing in myself and knowing that I could do the job, and them seeing that I have potential to go beyond just a legal secretary, or an assistant. I think that they value me overall, you know, away from, you know, in and out of the office. And I think that having that type of support is definitely helpful, you know, in an industry that is very hard to maneuver through.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't second-guess yourself. I think that in an industry such as big law, which is heavily dominated by men, don't feel like you can't make a way for yourself. Don't be intimidated. There will be, there's always a place for anyone, as long as you want to be there. It just looks different for everyone. But I think that if you find what works for you, I think my biggest takeaway from being in legal for so long is that skill can be taught, but you can't teach a good attitude. So, I think if you have the right mindset and the right attitude, where you're always open and willing to learn and listen, and maybe do things that are not necessarily within the role, if you're looking, if you're okay with outside of the box, you can learn anything. But you just have to have the attitude and the mindset to want to do it.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in her field include navigating the demanding nature of big law and working within a traditionally male-dominated environment, which can make advancement more complex, while the key opportunities lie in expanding into project management roles and leveraging strong professional networks to open new career pathways.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to her in both work and personal life include faith and gratitude, teamwork and loyalty, maintaining a positive and teachable attitude, showing respect for every role within an organization, and prioritizing balance outside of a demanding work environment.
