Danielle (Brinkman) Shultz is an accomplished civil engineering professional with more than 25 years of experience in construction materials testing, project management, and field operations. As Branch Manager at Patriot Engineering and Environmental, Inc. in Miamisburg, Ohio, she oversees a wide range of engineering and infrastructure projects across multiple states. Danielle’s leadership is grounded in both technical expertise and hands-on experience, having earned multiple highway construction materials testing certifications and served in roles ranging from entry-level technician to project and operations manager.

Throughout her career, Danielle has managed major infrastructure initiatives, including a $142 million full-depth reconstruction of I-75 and 11 bridge structures for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Her role encompassed every stage of the project—from research, bidding, and quality control planning to staff training, data review, and client coordination. Notably, she collaborated with a maturity testing company’s R&D team to introduce cutting-edge technology that brought the project back on schedule, ultimately achieving early completion and earning a $1 million incentive.

Danielle’s work has taken her across the country, supporting projects in states such as Illinois, North Dakota, and Montana. She brings a deep understanding of field operations, construction quality assurance, and leadership in technical environments. A graduate of Ohio Northern University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and an Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from Rhodes State College, Danielle continues to embody a results-driven and solution-oriented approach—always committed to delivering excellence and advancing innovation in the civil engineering industry.

I attribute all of my success to God. Everything I’ve achieved is through His guidance, grace, and provision.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never give up and to keep going, no matter the challenges. Perseverance always leads to growth and new opportunities.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay focused on your purpose and not let others discourage you. Find your “why” — the reason you’re passionate about what you do — and let that guide you. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back; every setback is just a stepping stone toward success.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the field right now is finding enough qualified and certified workers to meet demand. At the same time, that challenge also creates a tremendous opportunity — especially here in Ohio, where growth is constant and there’s always work available for those ready to step up and build their skills.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity and faith. I believe in doing what’s right, even when no one is watching, and trusting that faith will guide me through every challenge and decision I face.
